When the small market team had a better or equivalent record? Taking out the Spurs, I can't think of any. The NBA is so fixed.......

Free agency is the problem. Examples: Sacramento and Charlotte. If you are a high dollar big name NBA superstar and are a free agent, are you going to sign with either one of these teams? Nope. Not even if they have the most money to offer. Not even if they have a nice team and you could be what puts them over to be a great team. It doesn't matter. A big name wants to go where he can get media attention and endorsements. So, teams like the Kings, Hornets, Magic, Jazz, Bucks, Pelicans, Timberwolves, and Grizzlies are fighting with the Knicks, Lakers, and Bulls for quality free agents. A big star nine times out of ten will take the big market (or the hip market in the case of the Heat) over the smaller one. So, the only chance these teams have is to draft smartly and keep the stars they get. And if they can't, they lose them and continue to struggle. The Lakers and Knicks can screw up over and over, yet still attract quality free agents because of the location.
Successful dealings with shootybabitt, LarryP, Doctor K, thedutymon, billsgridirongreats, fattymacs, shagrotn77, pclpads, JMDVM, gumbyfan, itzagoner, rexvos, al032184, gregm13, californiacards3, mccardguy1, BigDaddyBowman, bigreddog, bobbyw8469, burke23, detroitfan2, drewsef, jeff8877, markmac, Goldlabels, swartz1, blee1, EarlsWorld, gseaman25, kcballboy, jimrad, leadoff4, weinhold, Mphilking, milbroco, msassin, meteoriteguy, rbeaton and gameusedhoop.

But you cannot take the Spurs out. They do exist. Which teams are small market, and which ones are big market? Which series were fixed? How were they fixed? You need to define your terms.
