Pete Rose is how much?

Today my Dad and I went to see the new X-Men movie (which by the way you should go see and stay till after the credits). We decided to take a lap around the mall waiting for the movie to start. Hit up Radio Shack and this sports place as well. Apparently Pete Rose is signing there in June for $59 for a small item and $89 for a premium item. Then it's $25 to be moved to the front of the line. Is it me or is kind of a high amount for his auto? Last time he was here I paid half of this.

you can pick up an item with Pete's name on it just about any minute of any day on eBay for around the cost of a pizza with your choice of toppings and free twisty bread.

You can buy 2012 Leaf Pete Rose set blasters with a guaranteed Rose auto card for $10 online.

There really isn't a reason to pay much more than that for his auto, unless it's on an item that's worth more than $10 unsigned.

Exactly! They were charging $30 for one of those Leaf auto cards as well.

Pete rose autographs are showing up more often than 1988 donruss wax boxes. It's really killed the value of his signature....

I Just saw Pete in his usual spot at the Caesars palace race and sportsbook betting the dogs last week. I've seen him there 4 or 5 times. I think he signs so many autographs to pay for his gambling habit. Not judging the guy, hopefully he's enjoying what he's doing and is happy.

$59 is about the going rate for him now, keep in mind you're getting meet him and probably take a picture, etc.

So depending on what you want signed and/or whether you want to meet him, you can definitely find a signed baseball or something much cheaper than that

    But price is about right

Auto collectors are lucky that only 59.00 is his price for his caliber of player. Actually, if you do him TTM and you buy 10 or more autos, the price goes down to 35.00 a piece. There have been private signings as low as 25.00.

You want expensive? Take a look at these prices offered by MAB for former players...

Bob Feller signed so much he had a quote along the lines of unsigned baseballs are worth more than baseballs signed by him.
  • I got Pete's autograph in Vegas last year. I know I paid way too much money for it, but he was my favorite player growing up. Needless to say I was somewhat disillusioned when he was banned (I digress). Anywho, I went and got his autograph on a 1974 Topps card. Spend about 5 minutes with him and got a nice picture. Found out I was from Boston and he talked baseball - questioning Victorino's reasons for not switch hitting, the Sox chances, etc. All in all, not a bad investment, although when you go to Vegas they immediately try to upsell you on all sorts of merchandise to be signed. Seemed kind of ridiculous that they had to put my card in this giant shopping bag as the item to be signed.

Anyways, got the auto graded during one of PSA's specials last year and it came back a 10. So I have that going for me.

As for MAB, no kidding on the prices. Went to the Marlboro show and spent don't-tell-the-wife money on some autos of 1970 Bruins players. Then I find out Ken Hodge will be appearing at the show in Mansfield tomorrow. For the price of 1 MAB auto I could get two at Mansfield with change coming back to me. He was announced after the MAB show - very convenient.
