Poppage! Quality raw exists! (and a Question)

I think I just hit 4 for 4 with 4 homeruns. All were purchased raw on ebay for wayyy below graded value. I'm pretty darn excited to add these to my hockey rookie collection. I'm pumped that all cards were legit an unaltered. And for those unfamiliar with these OPC rookies, they are hard to find in high grade due to poor centering.

1 1 22993297 MINT 9 OC 1986 O-PEE-CHEE 53 PATRICK ROY Card
2 1 22993298 NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1980 O-PEE-CHEE 140 RAY BOURQUE Card
3 1 22993299 NEAR MINT-MINT 8 OC 1979 O-PEE-CHEE 18 WAYNE GRETZKY Card
4 1 22993300 MINT 9 1984 O-PEE-CHEE 67 STEVE YZERMAN Card

Question: I used the online submission form, which did not have an option for "No Qualifiers". I'm not a big fan of qualifiers, so on the form comments sections I wrote "No Qualifiers Please." These just popped in the last couple hours. Would you guys recommend calling PSA to try to have them re-graded without qualifiers before they ship? OR should I just be happy with the 8OC Gretzky and 9OC Roy?

If you decide to call you already may be too late.
  • I don't know about getting qualifiers changed, but I would recommend that you print the online form and then hand write "NO QUALIFIERS, PLEASE" in big letters on the top of the form. They've always done that when I have asked.

Did you buy them way below 2 full grades lower then your grades on the OC cards?

Good Idea. I just grabbed my copy of the submission form to see how it looks. I had entered text below each of the cards on the submission form and it's written in blue text: "Note: No Qualifiers". I typed it for each card. I'm thinking your method would be more effective.

even if you ask for no qualifiers, if its seriously off, they will still add OC on a card
  • I would still call them and tell them what you did. Your method should have been clear enough. Hopefully they'll either change it or give you some kind of credit.

Yes, I think so. Paid approximately $70 for Roy, $290 for Gretzky, $50 for Yzerman, and $30 for Bourque.

Interesting. Now it makes since why I had a card grade OC even though I asked for no qualifiers. They went back and re graded it for me without one.

Sweet. The Gretzky looks to be about a $560 card. Nice going.

You did really well, the Bourque is a 200 card and Yzerman is in the same range.
  • Nicely done! I think that there is still a lot of raw cards out there tucked away.
