I think they're all iffy for getting 8s. The Raymond is the closest but not a slam dunk. 71s are real hit or miss. Just depends on which grader you get.
Is it just me here, but why would you scan a black bordered card with a black background? Wouldn't a nice white background (sheet of paper or in the case of my scanner, the cover has a white "board" on the inside) be the way to go to show off those edges and corners?
I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.
Ebay seller klinger83 is one of those raw card dealers with a devoted cult following.

No, a black background is best (as long as the seller isn't messing with the color contrast like this one is). At least with 1971 Topps, damage on the edges and corners usually appears as white, so a black background will better show that damage. A white background actually makes it harder to see the damage.
I think this one is more on the bidders than the original seller, whom I've bought from at shows. Not a fan of the overly-done color saturation, nor of the black background for '71's generally. I do agree that someone may not like the grades they get back if they submit hoping for 8s or better.
