Anyone having trouble with Ebay listings today?

RaufusRaufus Posts: 7,350 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'm trying to list a coin set on FeeBay.

Every time that I try to list it says something to the effect that I can't list a coin over $2500 w/o the coin being cert by PCGS and a grade. They are PCGS cert and the grade is listed both in the title and under item specifics. I've sold a lot of expensive coins on Ebay and never had this problem. I've wasted over an hour w/Ebay over the phone and they don't know what's wrong. Drives me nuts.

Is anyone else having a problem like this today?

Have you selected the grading company in item specifics? That's different than listing the grade or cert number.

Send me one of those BIG coins and I'll check! My under $500 listings went in ok.

Yes. Used their pull down menu and selected PCGS

    Same for grades.

Have done this many times with multi-thousand dollar coins.

Totally wasted over an hour with Ebay - "escalated" up to two different supervisors who looked at my draft listing and could not figure out what was wrong. Just drives me nuts.

One helpful suggestion by entry level Ebay person: "Well, if you drop your price below $2500 you won't have this problem." Good lord!

You've got to do it in the "item specifics" section

    First line is title
    Second is photos
    Third is item specifics

    Certification pcgs
    Grade
    Cert number
    Etc
All need to be filled out

Thanks. Hope they fix this. Was hoping that it was a technical glitch. Hopefully they'll eventually fix it. How Ebay has changed....

and when they already give away free listings, how will they make it up to you? No FVF listing? Maybe, but on a listing of that amount?

    Hmmmmm.......

Yes, same problem. Spent more time and frustration on the phone with ebay than you. Can't list anything over $2500 right now (at least thru Auctiva). Specialist at ebay said there's a bug they're aware of not recognizing grading co. in item specifics. First reported Fri.

    Thanks.

With Sunday being a prime listing day just sucks.

Wonder how long this will take to fix...

The FVF discount would be great. Loved the "Save Big" $100 cap in April!

This is not the first time this so called glitch has happened...

I had it before and all I could say was YGR%^%^RFR^%%R^...

I did get it to go through...IIRC.

I think trying to list it through a few times and it just went through on one of the attempts.

Yep, I had the same problem yesterday with a BIN re-listing of an item that I had successfully listed the prior three weeks. I spent an unproductive hour on the phone and finally gave up in the process of being transferred off to a 4th rep. I had to explain the problem in detail for each CS rep. The first rep acknowledged that there was a problem (others had reported same) and added me to the list of affected. I was supposed to be transferred to somebody in the listing dept that supposedly had the capability of over-riding the glitch, but all I got were some clueless reps in India.

I ended up just listing it in auction format for $2499.99, which was only $150 lower than my BIN or BO price anyway...

I just searched for dollars at $2499 to see if there were any deals from those who threw in the towel and listed it anyway. I see a couple legit things but talk about a bunch a pure garbage priced at $2499. NNC coins, raw, etc.

Yes- I spoke to ebay both last night and today and reported the problem to them.

I also spent some good time today talking to some of their higher ups about bringing back a lower final value fee on coins.
may the fonz be with you...always...

There is a way around this, but, I don't think eBay will like it........you could list a $4000 coin at $2499 and $1501 shipping. lol
The eBay software issue began May 15th after one of their software upgrades. They're probably losing hundreds of thousands every day, so, I suspect it will be fixed soon.

Their clueless reps are outsourced in the Philippines, not India image

You are correct! The accent was different, I just couldn't place it and made a guess that they were from different region of India than the usual Bangalore or Hyderabad English. I spoke to a couple more of them this am on another matter. image

Anyone having any luck or get any sort of competent response from ebay on this yet? It still isn't working for me.

Nope. I had the same problem last night. The rep called me back and said that it is a known bug and that they are working on it.

This is just unreal. How can it take so long to fix?? Would seem pretty simple.

Just another symptom of Ebay drowning in over-regulation.

I ran into same problem this week. I was told to check back with them next week. There is a glitch in their system. Didn't Icahn just state ebay was the worst run company in America, or something to that effect? Or was it someone else? Anyway, that is all I could think about when dealing with them for several hours today.

It is stunningly poorly run. Despite that, the compensation of the senior leadership is commensurate with the highest paid CEOs.

This is what happens when there is just no real competition.

Plenty of competition, just not another ebay.
