Morgan Vam Experts needed on this 1878-s Attribution
Good afternoon all,
These are EBAY images from an auction that ended about 2 months ago. It doesn't appear to be a long nock, why the $260 premium? I'm stumped.
Possibly a doubled "RIB" with an uncommon mintmark punch?
Thanks for your assistance!

Lance, I only suggested the strong possibility that the coin is VAM 77. No way am I making a conclusive attribution from those images in the OP. However, that being stated, it stands to reason that the competing bidders on the coin knew better than I do as to what they were pursuing. And if it turned out to be the more common VAM 111 or VAM 22, I have little doubt that the coin may have been returned to the seller. JMHO.
The question would actually be better suited for the vamworld.com discussion forum. It wouldn't take long for the winning bidder to show up in a thread over there, especially if their assumption about the coin was correct.

Found a problem free raw, a little better grade, not so beat up, got it into an attributed PCGS holder (first one) and sold it for mid 4 figures a couple years ago. Very scarce indeed.
