What is most shocking to me is to see Gary Payton on there. Talk about bucking the trend. The vast majority of retired NBA and NFL stars have financial troubles after several years removed from the league and for him to amass that kind of net worth he had to save and invest well. He always seemed like a flashy guy and most pro athletes that fit that profile fit the profile mentioned above.
I notice there are two inconsistencies in Grant Hill and Heath Farwell right above him so I would assume there are more throughout the list.
Just for the heck of it I looked up Gary Payton's career earnings and they were $104,367,619. With taxes, and agent fees and general living expenses he did a hell of a job to get to that number.
