This Cert. sold for 5600 with 122 bids in Dec 10 2013 by PWcc.
So maybe it will be cheaper the 2nd time around

Pushing the price up? ......... Or trying to corner thr market?

Not corner the market. He bid and won the last one. And this is a consignment auction. The cert # on the PSA case is the same as the one he bought or consigned or both in Dec 10th.
It's the same card not a 2nd card.

Current bid is $5,351 so it won't be going for much cheaper then it sold for last time if at all.

This card has 85 watchers at the moment.
  • Good point DPECK...a question I would to see answered is what would a PSA 10 Payton 1976 Topps RC fetch these days in a major auction house or PWCC auction? I wouldn't be surprised if hit 5 digits

The big sellers/consignors/4sc whomever you want to list, are definitely manipulating the market. I follow Nolan Ryan cards and the 1979 and 1980 opc psa 9 cards went through the roof a few months ago, selling for 3 to 5 times historical prices. When I went to look them on VCP the same buyer had supposedly bought every one (a total of around 7). I highly doubt any money was really exchanged here.

But, the Ebay sell prices dictate the market to some degree. So I am as guilty as the next guy, by "valuing" a card based on the prior sales. however, all the big boys know this and have tried and are currently trying to escalate the market on card prices. It's tough but sometimes it's better to pass on the cards for a while and revisit them later.

I know it's not perfect, but vcp should exclude certain sellers from the pricing. I think you would get a better handle on what cards are really selling for (I know this theory can't really be used, but outside sellers besides pwcc, probstein, 4sc and maybe a few others, probably will tell what the cards are really selling for about 75% of the time).
Work hard and you will succeed!!
