Scanner opinions requested

I am getting things in order so I can begin to post photos on here and the BST now that I've decided to be a long time contributor. Your opinions on the EPSON WorkForce WF-2540 wireless scanner please. Staples has one on sale for $99.99. Is this an adequate scanner for posting photos and is this a fair price? Also is it better to use a scanner instead of a camera for card photos? More convenient? I do own a FUJI FINEPIX S1000 fd digital camera. Would the camera be just as good and serve the same purpose quality wise for photos and save me the added expense of a scanner? Down the road I will need some pointers on the use of Photobucket or some similar venue to upload the pictures. I am by no means a "techie" hence my request for your opinions. Thanks to all in advance for your responses.

I think that it has a good resolution without any special features. Like almost all scanners sold now you may get some reflection from the LED lamps, however, you cant get around that without spending a LOT more money. In my opinion, having a scanner is a must if you want to be able to share detailed pics for grading questions or if you just want to fill out your registry in an attractive way. I'd say go for it if this is the budget you're comfortable with.

I found these specs for that scanner in question:

    Epson specs

From what I've read on these forums, you want a scanner that uses CCD type technology. Otherwise, you will struggle to get sharp, in-focus scans of slabbed cards. CCD provides good focus even when the object is not perfectly flat against the glass (slabbed card, slightly curled book pages, etc).

If you look at those specs, down in the Photoelectric Device listing, it says that one uses CIS. You may want to look for another model that uses CCD. Just my 2 cents. If you do a search on "scanner" in the thread title, you will find a lot of old threads on here with recommendations.
