I believe eBay allows 6-8 days for payment, depending upon which area you find the rules. While the seller requested payment within 1 day, there is little that they can do except initiate a unpaid item dispute after 2 days and initiate a non-paying bidder after four days. If you plan on paying promptly, I wouldn't worry too much about the "1 day" request.
Personally, I pay ASAP after winning an item. I'm not sure why others worry about the rules to figure out how much time they can wait to pay for things.
You better hurry, you got less than 24 hours left.

I'm waiting on over 3k from probstein123 because a bidder hasn't paid in a month. Rick told me he usually waits a month before he puts in a strike against them, and offers a second chance to the under bidder.
I pay immediately after an auction ends too. Just have never heard of a seller mandating that a payment be made 1 day after auction ends.

Being that you're not sure, the reason I'm trying to figure out the rules is because the seller seemed unreasonable with his 1 day request. I just spoke to Rick last week, and he told me he waits a month to let people pay before he opens a case. I was just trying to get info on the subject from those in the know.
Anyone who thinks paying $31.00 for an item on ebay is difficult is either drunk, or stupid.

Speaking of drunk or stupid....An ebay seller giving someone a month to pay.
Seems absolutely stupid to me or something that should be discussed before they accept the consignment.

I always ask in my description to be paid within 24 hours. The way I look at it is you shouldn't be bidding on something if you don't have the money to pay for it. Ebay will allow you to open a case 3 days after auction ends. Granted, I don't sell very much at all, so I rarely run into a problem and the majority of people pay within a day or two anyways.
It's happened to me before once as well. In my case the seller has it set up to automatically file a non-paying bidder notice. eBay gives you a certain amount of time to pay, can't recall what this is exactly. I did message the seller explaining that I hadn't done it intentionally and he said "no problem, it's an automated non-pay" basically. Worst case scenario is a negative feedback from the seller.
I think some sellers use it as a safety net--if they don't get the price they wanted and 24 hours pass, well, tough luck, item is relisted. If the item sets a VCP high, I'm betting said seller will wait an extra day or two, no problem.

Looks like 6 days max if they file a NPB after 2 days, the earliest you can do so.
"You can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center from 2 days to 32 days after the listing has ended (or immediately if the buyer is no longer registered on eBay). The buyer will have up to 4 days to send a payment after the case is opened. If the buyer doesn’t pay within 4 days, manually close the case in the Resolution Center to receive a final value fee credit."
<< <i>For 1 day..........not sure why seller just doesn't do immediate payment required. >>
You can only do that for Buy it Nows, Jay.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

I'm with you on this. Part of my opinion is based on waiting days and days for bidders/buyers to pay, if not completely backing out. Payment should be instant on all auctions. You bid, you pay.

I do not think I'm stupid or drunk, but I agree with this.
I always pay within 24 hours, usually within hours. And if for some reason I know I will not be able to process payment within 24 hours ( for example traveling internationally) I give the seller a heads up and tell him when he can expect payment, usually before I bid.
An obvious situation where one might not pay immediately is where the buyer might be interested in other items ending a couple days after their first purchase. As long as there is email message request to wait in the interest of combined shipping for multiple items, that seems more than reasonable.
A couple of years back , there was this seller in Florida ( I live in Baltimore ) " Justpayingtherent " , who didn't accept Paypal ( somewhat common back then ) , but had a 3 day payment policy . After winning an $8 auction for a roll of coins , on a Friday night , I mailed a check out the next morning . I get a hostile E-mail Monday evening , wondering where his money was , as it clearly stated , there was a 3 day payment policy . I e-mailed back , that I had Mailed it out Saturday morning and I'm sorry it wasn't there yet . He then stated that , unless the money was there the next morning , he would file a non payment charge . When I e-mailed him back , that Ebay's non-payment policy was 10 days , he went nuts . I look back now and believe he was probably drinking , but he next e-mailed me , via Ebay , nasty , cursing laced abuse , which I forwarded to Ebay . He was kicked off Ebay the next day .
Much to the man's credit , he actually sent the roll of coins anyway , and they were quite good . He was still a penal cland as a whole . ---- Sonny

I don't know what the policy is. I'm sure someone will chime in

That's kind of what I meant. If seller wants payment in one day...Just make it a BIN & Pay it now.
