I'm assuming Griffins will be there.

    yup, I'll be there!

New venue for us, more parking, easier access. A good selection of dealers and Wax Czar is going to run a case break, so it should be fun.
I'm cleaning out the closet so I'll have a range of stuff from 1910 to 2014, including a few high grade '40's sets, lots of Heritage including a complete uncut '08 set in sheets, '57 uncut sheets, '50's salesman samples, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Shows are few and far between, and if they are going to continue could use all the support possible. Hope everyone in the area can make it, free admission!

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Ugh, Gardena is too far from Burbank. Bummer. I won't even go out to frank and sons anymore unless absolutely necessary.

I'd love to see some of these. I wished I lived closer - 225 mile trek for me, plus I get to play Mr. Mom over the weekend. I'd love to make one of these shows sometime. Good luck!

Close to where I live(Torrance) so I'm gonna go check it out. Looking forward to it actually.

And yeah, Burbank is one heck of a drive. 5 south and then through downtown...easy drive at 7am on a Saturday, not so much later in the day though no Dodger or Kings game and the Clipper game is at night.

I am looking at an hour drive, at least. Can anyone give me the low down on whether it's worth it?

I went to the Long Beach Expo and it turned out to only have like 10 tables devoted to cards...

    Thanks

Vito - Are there any more shows in Burbank at the VFW?

I don't recall any shows in the past 4-5 years in Burbank. If there have been I've missed them (and I bet that's unlikely). I would actually recommend Griffin's shows. I've been to the last two in Culver City and had a good time at each.

    Unfortunately...
I'm not sure if anyone else in SoCal has noticed but it used to be that you could get places on the weekends w/o major traffic...no more. Now you can't go near the 10/110, 110/105 or god forbid 605/710 interchanges without sitting like it's a weekday. Now I play all my golf in Burbank or north (Simi/Canyon Country). Not worth headaches in my off days.

It's been like that. I grew up in Rosemead and used to make afternoon commutes to college at Cal poly. From the 60/San Gabriel exit to Cal Poly used to take 20-25 minutes at 1:30pm. Now I don't think there's any chance of making it in less than 35 minutes. First job out of college was in Manhattan Beach. Still from Rosemead it was a 35 min- 1 hour commute at rush hours. I don't think that I'd bother the way things are now.

When I had been living in DTLA, I think Frank and sons was about 25 miles, but the drive, even on a Saturday took 45 min or so. Enough so that it was a chore to get out there, even at 11am on a Saturday.

There was a show in Burbank/Glendale a few years ago.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, please say hi so I can put a name to a face.

Thanks a lot to Griffins and the other promoters. Had a great time with a lot of people really interested in cards. Look forward to the one in October!

    +1 Thank you Anthony

I got a couple of good deals, saw some cards I'd never heard of and it's always fun to talk about cards.

I had fun as well. Was great to see Anthony and some other familiar faces.

Grabbed quite a few things for my raw sets, including 6-7 HOF 1967 Venezuela cards and a decent 1954 Jackie.

Sad I missed it this time around. I had to attend my brothers bachelor party this weekend in San Diego…I'll be sure to attend the one in October.
  • I went toward the later part ending of the show. Scored a 1993 Japanese Ichiro XRC and 6 packs of 1993 Topps Series 1 (possible Derek Jeter RC) all for $30 from a dealer that had a lot of Japanese baseball card issue. Also added a 2013 Topps AJ Lee auto for my PC below ebay price. Hope there will be more shows in the future!
