Help needed on a 1933 sports kings authenticity

I don't know what to look on these and know there are fakes out there so figured I would ask for some help. Any red flags here or bid away?

Usually you look for the large space on the back bottom of the card. That would be the sign of a fake.
  • Personally, the color shading looks consistent with that cards age. The bottom is not as large, which is good. Color on the back looks good too. I'm no expert, but it looks like the real deal to me.

    I have the whole set.
On almost all(maybe all), signs of the ribbon(sports king gum) can usually be seen through the back of the card. As if the card stock was that transparent.
That is just one way used to help me tell. That may not help, something to look at in hand.

+1, I personally wouldn't buy one raw without the ribbon visible on the back. That said, I don't see any obvious red flags from the scan (notched ribbon on front, back spacing others have mentioned, '1986 Reprint' on back image ) I regularly watch the Bobby Jones cards from this issue and would guess at least 80-90% of top 3 TPG graded cards have the ribbon 'bleed-through' on the back.

I personally think the card looks good although I'm not the best expert at these sort of things. When I collected the set, you could tell if it was a reprint if the back writing were bright green, which this is not. On the front, a reprint would not have the same nuances in color as an original. This one seems fine on both counts. Other things to look for is to check whether the seller has more cards from this set for sale. If they also have commons for sale in addition to the stars, and none of them have the obvious flags, there is a better chance the card is good. If the seller only has for sale those cards that are often faked, then it's a sign to stay away.

    Looks good to me.
The front makes me concerned . But only because It is a high dollar card. Then I see the back and the color and words look correct. The back looks better than the front so I bet it was displayed for a while.
    Very nice card.
I say legit but PSA would be the best way to get a result in hand.
    Worth sending in.

I say legit as well. It compares favorably to my PSA slabbed Thorpe and doesn't show any of the signs I've come across and summarized nicely above. Did you loupe it up and look for ink dots?

I didn't win the auction. I kinda wish a bid more now but wasn't very confident in it. The seller only had 5 feedback and selling a raw card that is commonly reproduced. It only sold for 212. Could be a nice buy for someone. My snipe was only for 200 because of my concerns about the authenticity.
