Will all of the drama surrounding Puig affect his card values?

His cards are already priced ridiculously high. I purchased some during the off season, but I'm not going to invest in someone with an uncertain future. His story is like something out of a movie.

I think the values only have a downward direction to go. I'll wait it out until a decent auto can be had at a reasonable price and then add his signature to my collection.
I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

Not if he can keep hitting.

I think the real question is will all the drama affect his hitting? He's already struggling a bit hitting...batting about .240 as of this post. Doesnt mean its not just a slow start, but hitting is all about rhythm and if Mattingly sits him for the antics, it will mean less stats and THAT will mean lower card values

<< <i>Not to get too far off topic but curious how Puig's (and other athletes) human smuggling / smugglers are different then other kinds of human trafficking, besides more money involved? >>

Some individuals seek out human smugglers to escape their current situation, while others have no choice in the matter.

Thank you for the reply. That makes sense. Would you feel differently if someone ended up killed during or after the transport?

When dealing with known criminals lacking the respect for what's 'right / wrong', it must be really hard to predict the outcomes. >>

I think the characters involved with human smuggling are down right despicable regardless. I am quite certain that many end up dead dealing with these folks.

    first 59 games - .376
    last 58 games - .236

Of course, there's a lot more to hitting than just batting average. His power is pretty good.

He's a bad baserunner, and his fielding is all over the place. He makes some great plays, but then jogs after some balls, and doesn't like to hit the cutoff man. He's already been benched for loafing.

I don't know what his cards sell for, but they're very likely overpriced.

If the drama affects his tenure with the Dodgers, I believe his card values will decrease.

  • His cards will come back down to earth but he's still has upside as long as he can manage 30 to 40 HR's and a .300 AVG.
