Sportsbuy - It's Official

From the Sportsbuy Homepage:

April 10, 2014

Dear SportsBuy users,

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that after 13 years, we have made the decision that it is time to close down the SportsBuy.com Marketplace. We have made this decision due to the costs to support and upgrade the site in an industry that isn't currently growing. The ability to withdraw funds is available, but transactions have been disabled and the SportsBuy.com Marketplace will shut down on April 30th. Please know that the company will remain in business in its other ventures, it will just no longer offer the SportsBuy.com third-party collectibles marketplace.

We want to thank all our loyal users, especially our valued VIP's, for all their support and input over the last 13 years. Without you we couldn't have made it this far. If you have any questions, please contact us at customercare@sportsbuy.com or vip@sportsbuy.com.

Again, we cannot express enough how much we appreciate all your support and we wish you the best of luck in the future!

It's like when I found out Pat Morita died. I thought it had happened 5 years prior.

I would argue the industry is the strongest it's been since the mid 90s.

The industry is as good as it's going to be, that's for sure. Their problem is the COMC has become the best place to sell low to mid-end collectibles.

I'm here for two reasons: 1) to agree 100% with the statement above 2) to comment on how Lee's pic here is most likely what killed Pat Morita
  • That's a shame, I liked using sports buy to pick up singles.
Now it's 1.00 a piece on COMC rather than .18 each on Sportsbuy......

You can get tons of them on Sportlots for .18 each.

The ability to withdraw funds. ROFL
Not that they have ever responded about the check they bounced to me when I withdrew mine.

+1. Sportlots is a great place to pick up low-end stuff at great prices. Relatively expensive to sell there though.

And "Thepit" will continue? I know at 1 time both Sportsbuy and Thepit were owned by Naxcom. Does anyone
know if Thepit was bought by another company?

My bad, I meant sportlots, not sportbuy.

Whew, glad sportlots isn't going anywhere.
