Successful off eBay transaction (VCP)

End of the workday yesterday I stumbled onto an auction for one of my "wants"
Only a couple bidders and a great price with 5 hours left. I'm not big on auctions but decided I'd watch it. It climbed a bit but still reasonable until I realized coming out of CA would incur tax to the tune of about $30, so I was largely priced out at that point. It closed pretty close to what I was willing to pay, before tax, and right in range with other recent examples.
But the die was cast. I now "needed" that card as it would be the final piece in Round 8 of my What's a Grand Getcha Game, if I could get at the right price.
So back to search. Everything in similar grade has high BIN, some with BO, but my offer would be potentially insulting taking into account recent sales and fees. Find a grade lower but best price is just over high VCP. If I can get a BO on the higher grade between the 2 ranges I'm golden, but my offer would be about 5-10% less than what last few have auctioned for.
So I found the one I liked best, and searched here for the seller. No luck.
Decided to do a web search for eBay handle, and beyond all the listings, found him on VCP. Had never considered that before. Sent a message thru VCP, quick negotiation, and closed it within an hour for VCP avg. and 20-60 less than last 2 sold for.
Not sure if subscription is required, but really loving my VCP. I do wish it was closer to 60-80/yr, but have appreciated the value while I'm an active buyer.
Just wanted to share as I've had some good success in working off eBay in a variety of ways, but this one was new to me.
