Just Collect's Recent Florida Purchase - Some Neat Stuff!

We've been traveling much more recently viewing and purchasing vintage collections as you may have guessed from out posts on the BST board. Recently, we had the opportunity to travel to South Florida and had the privilege of viewing and purchasing a fantastic collection of more than 150 vintage classics. Many of the cards are keys to their issues and the volume of Hall of Famers was incredible. Sadly, a few cards had been altered, but given the time frame during which this collection was amassed, it was not uncommon for buyers to be unaware of the alterations. Knowledge in the hobby has come a long way since the advent of the Internet and simple search features.

The story of this great find can be found on our blog.

Some of the highlights include:

1895 N300 Mayo Cut Plug Cap Anson:

A scarce 1902 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet of Cy Young:

A beautiful 1909 E90-1 Cy Young (Boston):

The Flying Dutchman, Honus Wagner featured on a 1909 E92 Dockman and Sons in the "Throwing" variation:

A few lovely Christy Mathewsons, starting with the Dark Cap, Hand-in-Glove 1909-11 T206:

The scarcer Blue Background from Sporting Life's 1911 M116 Set:

And the rarely seen 1912 Helmar Silks Mathewson (this piece is absolutely incredible when seen in-hand):

Before everyone thinks the collection was dedicated to 19th Century and Prewar material, there were plenty of greats from the 1940's and 1950's. While there were no Mantle rookie cards, there were quite a few Mantles from the 1950's including this really nice example of his 2nd year Bowman from 1952:

We just wanted to take this opportunity to share this great find with you. There are still a great number of 19th Century and Prewar cards out there and many, like this collection, have not been graded.

Thanks for letting us share this with you and continue to enjoy the hobby!!!
Regards,

Leighton Sheldon

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

While prewar cards are not my focus, I have seen quite a few over the years, but you found some I had never had the pleasure of viewing before. Congrats on closing the deal!!!

    Great stuff, Scott! image
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
