If you could pick any insert from the past to put in future product, what would it be?

If you could pick any vintage insert to put into future product, what would it be? I like the 1962 Topps Baseball bucks.

Nice choice. I'd choose the 1969 Topps Decals.

As a kid I always thought the embossed were cool, how can you not like a card made out of foil? image

"hit to win" cards for bench warmers would be fun.

3D glasses with secret messages would be cool too.

Jay--I have a set of the Embossed cards. If I were to just show the faces to someone not familiar with the issue, but familiar with the players from that era, how many do you think that person would identify correctly ? image

I would have probably gone with 1968 Topps Standups, but Topps included those in 2013 Topps Archives. image

So I am going to go with Guru on the 1962 Topps Bucks... one of the few sets I like but, for some reason, haven't taken a shot at putting together yet. image

Although the Connie Mack All-Stars wouldn't be a bad choice either.

I grew up collecting in the late 80's so I didn't get to see a lot of the inserts mentioned in this thread. Lots of cool stuff has been brought up already. I bought a box of 2012 Topps Archives for my son to open for Xmas. I was actually really impressed with the insert sets they included in that set. As I recall, they had the deckle edge, the 77 Topps Cloth Stickers, a 3-D set (I don't know the year those originally came out) and another 70's Sticker set (the one with the floating heads). I loved seeing those inserts and I thought it made that a really fun box to open.

If I had to pick a set the last couple of years that I've been the most impressed with other than the regular series, it would be Archives. It's fun to open and there's lots of cool stuff. I've never felt like I walked away empty handed. Plus the set is pretty easy to put together.
  • My favorites the stickers from the 1971 topps basketball, the set that gave way to the 80-81 set tha has my other fav insert. the team posters that wherein the 80-81 basketball
