Unopened at the National?

So since this is the biggest, major card show of the year. How is it for unopened material? Hit or miss, buyer beware, prices jacked up etc?

Also, does bbce save some really good unopened material for the show? I'm hearing yes and no.

Is it worth a special trip to Cleveland?

BBCE's booth is one of if not the best booth at the National. Literally a ton of unopened and great customer service. Also, a lot of dealers wont price their unopened until they get to check BBCE's prices.

    +1

In addition, BBCE does hold back some nice product for the show. The National is a showcase. It is no good to be known for unopened and not have some impressive product to display.

I didn't see much vintage unopened at all outside of the BBCE booth last year.

  • Great points and info guys.

Here's what will get me my answer....I've only been with bbce maybe 2+ years and and have never seen them at a card show....so, when u guys have posted pics of bbce with the three 86 fleer boxes, the Ted Williams boxes and other pricy vintage unopened..were those items on their website 1-3 weeks before the national?

Makes sense that they would save some but I've had well known collectors adamantly saying "no, they don't"

    Thx again for the replies

The answer is NO. I purchased a 1971 Topps Baseball cello pack last year that was not on their website beforehand. They also sold a 1978 Topps Baseball rack case and that 1975 Topps Baseball mini wax case that were not on the website either along with the examples you cited. I have lots of other examples, but I don't want to bore you with the details.
