If sports cards were not printed by could only be viewed or printed..

from a website/computer, basically taking collecting and investing out of the picture, how viable would "card collecting be"? I ask this because the comic world is slightly headed toward viewing the new issues on a website (they make more money because of lower costs). Would this hurt cards, if topps just had their new sets on their site for your viewing pleasure?

If you do comics please pass along your thoughts, amount this.

Card COLLECTING would not exist. People might still enjoy viewing the cards, but "owning" or "collecting" them would not be meaningful.

Personally, I can see it working for "reading" but not collecting comics. With card collecting, it's tough to imagine just looking at a bunch of pictures appealing to many people.

My friend would rather just read the comics than buy them (price, storage, just like every other reading forum - newspapers). But if that trend were to continue, it could, phase out the collectors and investors, maybe. Just like to hear everyones thoughts.

Card collecting would not exist....if you wanted a somewhat similar situation, look at eTopps. Theoretically, you could BUY the card and keep it online in a collection or have it sent to you. The cards themselves are some of the best looking cards Topps have ever made, but honestly, there really is no interest in them.
