A very blue day for Big Blue Nation...KY is now under NCAA investigation and must forfeit to WI...

EstilEstil Posts: 6,922 ✭✭✭✭
I just woke up this morning to the most horrible news imagineable to those of us in Big Blue Nation...KY has reportedly been found to have committed serious and numerous NCAA violations and must forfeit this upcoming b-ball game to Wisconsin pending the outcome of the NCAA investigation. image These violations seem to go back a few years which means there is a very real danger we may be stripped of our bronze and gold from 2011 and 2012. image And worse of all, it looks like unlike with UMass/Memphis our coach is likely to have been involved, so he will no doubt be fired or forced to resign. A very sad day for UK fans everywhere...though I can hear shouts of joy and champagne corks popping from all the cheater Cal trolls everywhere. image I sure hope they're all happy...that is what they wanted all this time, no? image

Here's the link if want to know the details of this breaking news story. image

April Fools! We could all only wish this were true. It has nothing to do with cal haters it is just the arrogance of most (i said most not all) UK fans that people don't like. I live 20 minutes from KY so believe me I know.

I am sure it's all true except the forfeiting part. They'll get busted later. Good luck in the game.

You better be careful, buster. If it hadn't been for some last minute political maneuvering to get your new stadium, your Kings could very well have become OUR Kentucky Colonels by now! image

Of all the rumors I don't remember that one. I think Seattle was a little ahead of everybody else.

I should add I think all the colleges cheat. It's just a matter of the degree of cheating and who gets caught.

Speaking of the Kentucky Colonels, I remember in the good old days of the ABA when Dan "The Missile" Issel [UK class of 1970?] was tearing it up for the Colonels (on my office wall I have a photo/plaque with Dr. J rising above defender Dan Issel as Dr. J was going to the hoop to score, with the photo autographed by Dr. J). A true thoroughbred he was. Then when the NBA and ABA merged after the conclusion of the 1975-75 season the Colonels folded and "The Missile" was launched and landed in Denver to become a Nugget for many years.

Issel could shoot the lights out.

Before the game had Larry, Ervin or Jordan, we watched in awe as the Dr. operated on the court!

And he is still UK's all time leading scorer, not to mention for many years he was the "all around coverage, all around Kentucky" guy. image And it was actually only a partial merger where only the Nets, Pacers, Nuggets, Spurs made the cut and St. Louis and Kentucky just missed out. Boy what a GREAT rivalry the Pacers/Colonels would of/would be I tell ya! image And I wasn't around back then (born 1980) but I bet it was awesome when Kentucky for the only time in the 20th century we had a major league team to call our very own! image I very much look forward to they day (if it ever comes) that big league b-ball is back in the Commonwealth! image But that's okay, we'll always have our Cats!

Actually, Issel was traded before the last season of the ABA. He was sent to the Baltimore Claws. But, when the Claws were getting ready to fold, the Nuggets made a deal to get Issel and he was on the Nuggets team that dominated the ABA in the last season (but lost to the Nets and Super John Williamson in the ABA Finals).
