Another eBay situation, sorry

So a buyer wins a few higher dollar cards in an auction that ended Sunday March 23rd. I still had not gotten paid on Saturday, sent him a quick note asking when I can expect payment, no response. I have another set break end this last Sunday, March 30th. Guy buys more cards so I send him a combined invoice with all of the cards included. Buyer messages me asking if I can just send him an invoice for the cards from the 30th? I respond back asking why, his response is he cannot afford the 1972's from the auction ending on the 23rd. So this guy basically tells me he doesn't have the money for the cards he won the weekend before making him a deadbeat buyer in my eyes, but it doesn't stop him from continuing to bid on my items. And a quick look on his bid history shows he is bidding on other cards as well. Should I or can I report this buyer to eBay? Here's why negative feedback really needs to be left for buyers like this, guess not in eBay's eyes though.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

  • I have all my auctions set to exclude anyone who as 2 non-payment strikes in the past 12 months....since I did this, I have not seen a non-payer. Before this, I have high rates of non-payment for $$$$$$ items.

Meatloaf - This is great advice. I personally sell an average of 1-2 items a week on eBay. I think since I'm so low volume, I never get non-payers.

If you click here, you can see if anyone was unable to bid due to your requirements. I'm not sure how far it goes back though.

You are kind of over a barrel here. I see two things that need to be done, you need to get paid and you need to decide if you want to block him.

You could collect what he is offering and open an unpaid item report on what he does owe you and then block him.

Or you could just RELAX and see if he is just a slow pay kind of guy.

If it were me, I would contact ebay and tell them that you wish to cancel everything he "won" and then block him and ebay must block his ability to neg you on the auctions he "won". Then I would just either give second chance offers or just put the stuff back up for sale. But ebay does that for you, I would want all ebay fees credited.
  • Heard back from this clown, he said he will leave negatives for all of the items if I don't remove the cards he no longer wants by tonight. Think a call to eBay is on the agenda tomorrow, don't think they allow a buyer to threaten negative feedback before he even pays. User name is psal3891 if anyone opts not to do business with him

  • I had a buyer threaten me one time with negs in a similar situation. I called ebay and they took care of it. He threatened to call them and it felt so good to say, "Oh, no, you'll be hearing from them so don't worry about making that call."

In the end, which this surprised me, they sided with me. But only because he was making threats. Make sure you make them aware of the messages with threats.

I assume he messaged you through eBay. If so, then I'd think he's pretty much screwed himself. I wouldn't wait until tomorrow, though - might as well get the ball rolling now.
  • Yes, all the messages are through eBay. He's not doing himself any favors.

I agree with everyone else. this guy is toast now. One of the only no-no's for buyers is to threaten negative feedback.

  • I would have called eBay today, but I was busy boxing up all of cards The Dude Abides bought from me last night.

If a buyer doesnt pay, he should get negative feedback automatically
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Too bad there are clowns like this. I've bid on your last three set breaks and have never had a smoother eBay experience, you have it down to a science!

Don't be too sure ebay is going to do ANYTHING, I blocked "thebaseballmachine" who was buying my items, not paying and listing them on ebay with my scans. He/she responded with several nasty messages including a couple about paying me a visit, all through ebay's messaging service.

I called ebay quite upset and wanted them to do something about it, several days later he was at it again, so I wasn't able to get any help.

Sellers are really getting the SHAFT on ebay MORE AND MORE ALL THE TIME.

How about a little fairness here ebay?

Thanks for this site, it's the only way to spread the word on these clowns.

I have similar situation with someone who won card on 25th, two invoices via ebay and still no response........person has 100% feedback with over 8K sales/purchases and hate to just post negative.....hopefully person is just having a back week.....and yes I usually show too, too much patience with buyers but hate to give the negatives....

This type of stuff should be very easy for EBAY to deal with......they should kick him off. Done deal.

Just to update, after 16 minutes on the phone to eBay I got nowhere. I asked to talk to a supervisor or at least someone who had half a brain, she said they'll have to call me back. Glad to see the fees we pay are going towards hiring such competent employees, sheesh.

  • Just to update this situation, I ended up filing a non payment claim against this loser. He bid on two separate auctions a week apart and didn't pay for a single card. Ebay said they couldn't do anything about the threats the buyer sent me because they were thru the Ebay message system, and those communications are private, WTF? Anyway, he is another eBay deadbeat bidder who was psal3891 and has recently changed his name to zkx6kt9.

That is absolute BS about the eBay messages being private. They can read it.
I reported a seller using profanity towards me and was on the phone with an eBay rep. The rep said he can
see what was written and even read some of it back to me. I got the seller suspended temporarily.
  • TheDudeAbidesTheDudeAbides Posts: 400 ✭✭✭
From what I understand Ebay reads through those messages, so that's ridiculous. Where is the seller protection? Exactly why I don't sell anymore. I consign my cards and let them deal with the headaches.
