Modern cards on eBay, craps, luck, karma...

However you look at it, I don't have it. I am not complaining, I understand the concept of auctions, it's just intriguing to me and conversation worthy. A mix of refocusing collection and needing to raise funds for family stuff, I have sold some cards on ebay recently...a handful for recent results all with free shipping

1989 Score Chris Carter PSA 10 $16.50
1983 Topps Marcus Allen SGC 96 $37
1989 Score Thurman Thomas PSA 10 $22
1994 SP Faulk BGS 9.5 $34.10
1984 Topps Russ Grimm BGS 9.5 $22.50
1984 Topps Dwight Stephenson BGS 9.5 $36
1972 Topps Larry Little PSA 8 $8.99...this one is the most startling an 8(ST) just sold for $29 and an 8 for $49

funny how things work. Hit the average with some and pooped the bed (no offense to those into that sort of thing) on others.

I guess that is the risk/reward of auctions. If you get the right eyeballs on your cards and two people go after it you can get great returns but if you've only got interest through one party your are out of luck. I am risk averse, so I put all of my cards up with BIN and a BO option. Sometimes cards sit for a while but I am ok with that. I would rather wait until the right buyer is willing to pay what I want back for the card than sell it for less than what I would value it at. I have been happy with the results this way. If you're not in a hurry to sell I think it's the best way to go. If I were doing an auction I would likely think about consigning to one of the two big guns depending on the value of the cards. Good luck with your future sales.
