2012 Leaf baskeball

I was at target yesterday and picked up a box of this product for $12.99. Is there anything in this worth collecting??? noticed the box said there were autographs in each box, should I bust it or hold onto it? any info appreciated, I didn't even know Leaf made a basketball product

I bought three of these boxes last year off eBay because they were advertised as 2 autos per box. The good news is that you will receive two autographs. The bad news is you may not have heard of the players. I have only opened two of the boxes and by the looks of the cards it doesn't appear Leaf had either a NBA or NCAA license. The result is that the set is full of airbrushed uniforms. The set also is missing Anthony Davis and a lot of the other early picks. It does feature Bradley Beal and Damian Lillard (and I think Leaf even had an exclusive auto deal with Lillard for a while so this was his only RC with an auto for a while, not sure if that's still the case.) Because they couldn't picture a lot of the better players in the draft they filled the set with a lot of foreign players and a whole lot of retired players. For $12.99 it is a decent price to roll the dice and see if you can land a decent auto. Even of you land a Beal auto I think you will barely recoup the cost of the box. If you are looking at breaking the box with any eye on a return I think you are better off returning it for a different blaster. Even opening the box isn't that fun as the autos weren't even put in packs for you to enjoy pulling them. They are just placed in a couple of top loaders outside of the regular packs. A bit of a letdown to me. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If you haven't opened it, my suggestion would be to exchange it for another product that has a license and hence a better looking set and a better checklist.

I say go ahead and rip it. At $13 that's not much to lose. To me, it would not be worth it to take it back to the store
to exchange. (Gas plus time)...but that's just me.

Good luck with your rip. Hope you get a Lillard or Beal auto! Warning, the cards are not attractive (at least in my opinion). Let me know what your opinion is after the rip.

Yes. I just found out about Dave and Adam's late last year and now I check their website for modern boxes as they seem to have better prices than Target or even eBay on retail blasters and most hobby boxes too. I have found paying a little extra for the hobby boxes are generally worth the money as you usually get more guaranteed hits. They also offer free shipping over $50 or $75 (can't remember which).
