I recently picked up a limited edition Superbowl Football at a local thrift shop. I need help trying to identify the autograph on the ball. Any help is greatly appreciated from my fellow CU members.

1. The fact that I couldn't recognize his signature despite the fact that I have been a huge Cowboy fan for 40 years. Not to mention that I was born, raised, and still live in the Dallas area.
OR
2. That I have to admit to the CU Board Members that I got this for $4.99 in the Sporting Goods section of a local thrift shop.
<< <i>I don't know which to be more embarrassed about.

I'd have to go with #1 haha!
Awesome. I can't believe the shop had no idea either. List it for $250.00 obo on ebay and see what happens.

<< <i>It's definitely an actual signature in sharpie. Debating whether I should get it authenticated or not before posting for sale. >>
It's 100% authentic. Serious buyers of his stuff know his sig.You basically have nothing into the ball and would be a shame to spend the money to get it authenticated. I'm confident you will get a good price as is so I'd list it with a obo option. If you're not happy with the offers you can always authenticate it later.

Emmitt autographs aren't what they once were, and this is a Super Bowl 36 ball (Patriots/Rams) so no real connection to Emmitt.
You definitely won't get $250 for it, I would suggest putting out at $75 OBO and see if you get any interest, or donate it to an auction and take the tax write-off at retail fair value.
Still a great find for $4.95!

I agree he won't get $250.00 for it. The idea is to start high and move down to an acceptable offer.
Starting at $75.00 is way too low especially since he has no real investment in the ball and it doesn't matter if he sells it or not.

this is an emmitt signature on an odd item, which is going to make it pretty hard to sell. if you were going to have an individual emmitt autograph in your collection, why would you pick this? most people wouldn't unless the price was so cheap they couldn't pass it up (which is exactly what accidentally happened here)
$250 is approaching the cost of getting emmitt in person at a show on whatever you want signed and taking a picture - thus it's too expensive to probably garner a real offer on it. i do this all the time, and when it's listed for more than double what its worth i usually don't even bother offering because i don't want the headache.
just my opinion
PS - there is NO WAY i'd spend money to authenticate it, i can't imagine you'd ever recover those costs

I wouldn't exactly say it's an "odd" item. Granted, Emmitt didn't play in SB XXXVI but it's a still a football. The ball was most likely sold during the SB pregame shows and Emmitt was most likely there.
The $75.00 obo price you mention would be a price to pay for an auto on a Beckett type mag or an SI. Way too cheap to list this ball. You wouldn't bother making an offer because you don't want the hassle which is fine. That doesn't mean anybody else won't. The op really has nothing to lose putting this up for high price and fielding offers.

my point is at $250 there are so many other options that this isn't a compelling one. by dropping the price into something reasonable to start with, probability of sale goes up.
<< <i>at $250 i just don't think anyone would offer. why not just buy a PSA/DNA actual game football for $175-200?

Good, valid point!
I've just seen so many sales for Emmitt's stuff as well as other players on ebay that make me say wtf..they paid how much for that?
In my eyes, nothing really invested means "doesn't really need to sell" so start high and see what happens.
I do see your logic as well
