1982 Topps Football Rack Case----opinions on what to do.

Good evening,

I recently purchased a 1982 Topps FB Rack Case from a board member (Thanks Alex).

Originally, I planned to rip it....but I started thinking, I do not see these very often at all. Matter of fact I have seen far more 1981 rack cases.

Would you:
A: Leave it sealed
Or
B: Send it to Steve Hart, and have him open, wrap, and Mark the boxes from a sealed case?
The case is sealed, but the top flaps are barely hanging on. I do not think I want to rip this as I just don't see them very often.

Thanks for any input

Definitely going to the National, hopefully BBCE has some nice material they are holding back for it.

    Rip baby, rip!
  • See my 79 opc rip. I had the same dilemma. Way more fun ripping!

No brainer on this one - keep it sealed and forget about it. Bide your time and wait for demand to peak. Just not enough interest in that set right now.

  • I wonder if Steve will wrap the whole case.....best of both worlds?

Just curious.. Why would you want Steve to open case and wrap boxes when you already have a sealed case? I'm guessing that would deflate value no?
I'd keep it sealed as is. You'll get better return on a sealed case as opposed to the some of the parts.

The ONLY reason is that the top flaps on the case are barely holding on. If it was firmly sealed, I wouldn't even bother. I am worried that I will move it, catch a flap when stacking and the flap will pop loose. Even though I know it's a sealed case, once the flap pops open, it is no longer "a sealed case".

If Steve opens, and wraps the individual boxes (or the whole case)..the "from a sealed case" premium still applies (if that makes sense).
