Authentic Graded PSA Pack?

Excuse a dumb question but what does this mean? Why not go ahead and get a grade assigned?

    If there is a rip in the pack or a bit of wear some people would prefer "Authentic" over "5 EX" or "3 VG"

    So if you send in an authentic pack I would assume you would get them back much sooner than normal since Steve (bbce) would not have to look at the pack. I have a few packs that were sent to me by leaf from the best of basketball product. They would probably grade in the 8 to 9 range. Not really sure why they didn't number grade them.

    Steve is not the grader, he's the one that says authentic or not.
