Redemption question

I have a question about a potential redemption card that I'm looking at buying from a friend. He wants $40 for a Topps redemption of a pretty big legend from this years Tribute. Is it worth buying? How long would the turn around typically be? It's a relic card not an auto. Thanks!

The entire redemption process is ridiculous. There is no way to tell how long it will take. I have talked to some guys at the local card shop, and they have redemptions they've sent two years ago and never received it. I have one myself that I sent in 8 months ago at this point and never received it. On the other hand, I've seen some come in within weeks.

I read that Topps was restructuring their redemption process to make it better whatever that means. I wouldn't be against making that purchase, but just be aware it may be a long time before you see that card.

If you're getting it for your personal collection, send it in and forget about it. If you're buying it to flip, try to flip the redemption itself.
