Pickups from last week--Modern Cards **Update-Scan added 3/30 (last post)**

So I had a little PP balance and no good unopened deals came up and I swung and missed on the one card being auctioned for my 61 Fleer basketball set. I drowned my sorrows with some modern purchases. I don't collect many active players (the list basically includes PSA 10 RC's or Autos of players like Lebron, Durant and Andrew Luck).

Here are some scans of some of the pick ups:

I have a growing PC of Andrew Luck. He is the only active football player I collect. I didn't have any of these three cards before getting them here. Always love Topps Chrome RC's as I think they are the standard for base modern RC's. The 1957 style Refractor is numbered to 99.

I love the way Kevin Durant plays. I also have a growing collection of his RC's and Autos. These are a couple of RC's I didn't have in PSA 10. I have the McDonalds card in BGS 9.5 (that I self submitted), but I do like having cards in PSA 10. The McDonald's game was played in San Diego and I actually went to that game, so it is cool to have this card.

Last up, I have an autographed card of Laker legend Elgin Baylor. Picked this up for something like $11. Unbelievable that one of the top 10 or 20 players ever has certified autographed cards for so little. Glad to have it in my collection. I may start a 50 greatest autograph collection from modern auto cards. Seems like a cheap way to get some great autographs.

Very nice pickups! I'm in the same boat. I have a few Luck's and he's the only modern NFL player that I dabble with. That 57 refractor /99 PSA 10 is awesome. Congrats!

I always go for old timers over young pups, so I think that Baylor auto is flippin' sweet!

Mike, ThoseBackPages and Bravesfan007--Thanks, the Luck 1957 refractor is really cool. I haven't seen too many of those in PSA 10 and I think I got a good deal on it. I am very happy with that pick up. I was surprised at how good the regular Topps Chrome RC looks in the holder too. I think Luck is the real deal. I like the Topps Chrome RC and when the price is right I am hoping to get all or most of the refractor variations.

DanBessette and Huncrelan--The Baylor auto is a sticker I think. I am not too familiar with modern cards as my collection is very limited in that area. I understand that on card is valued higher than sticker autos but in this case I believe this is a really well designed sticker that has the appearance of being an on card auto. Nice looking card in person. And I looked it up and I paid $11.50 for an Elgin Baylor auto card. Unbelievable.

Thanks for the nice words on my recent pick ups. This was the last card I was waiting on from last weekend's modern card spree. It is an Anthony Davis Flawless Auto numbered 6/10. I believe the Flawless series is one of Panini's high end releases for this year. By all accounts, if this kid can stay healthy he is in line to bump shoulders with Lebron and KD as a top 3 NBA player in the near future. I am planning on getting a couple more of his autograph cards this season before he breaks out even further next year.

Sorry my scanner is not great. I will try to get a better pic of the card as I don't think the scan does the card any justice. Take my word for it though, this is a SWEET looking card in person.

DanBessette -- Davis is a stud. I agree about that. I am waiting on two more Anthony Davis Auto's to get to me this coming week. I went on a little crazy AD auto spree this past week and picked up the Flawless one already posted plus two more. Can't wait to get them. I will post scans when I get them.

Here is my update for the end of the week. I picked up another graded Kevin Durant, this one is a BGS 9.5. I prefer PSA 10, but I didn't have this card and the price was right so I am still happy with it. I will probably still try to add in PSA 10 later but it's nice to have this one. I am just going to try and get as many different Gem Mint KD RC's as I can fit in my collection. This one isn't particularly high dollar but it is a nice addition anyway.

Next up are a couple of Autos. The Steph Curry auto is for my son. It will be his birthday in May and I have been buying up Steph Curry cards for him for one of his presents (Curry is his favorite player). He doesn't have any autographed Steph Curry cards so this should really set him off.

The Will Clark auto is for me I am all fired up over this one. Clark was my favorite player growing up and I always wanted this card. Never could find one. Definitely couldn't pull one. Ebay really is an amazing place to find stuff.
