1975 Topps baseball rack pack rip **Update 6/28/14: PSA 9 Reggie Jackson #300**

Just finished opening a 1975 topps baseball rack pack I purchased from cpamike a couple of weeks ago. Some very nice cards within including one big hit (not a RC, though). Will post scans coming up.

Well that's one way to try to convince Mike to open the occasasional pack.

I love mid-70s racks as the thicker cello does a great job at protecting the cards within and true to form these cards were very sharp. The biggest issue I have encountered when opening a rack from this era is PD and surface defects, but these cards were nice and clean with great color and gloss.

First four I card savered (please excuse the dusty scanner, going to try and wipe it down now, lol):

I love the rough cut on either Topps or OPC, John, LOL!

You think the photographer could have waited a moment at least till Mitterwald got that speck out of his eye?

Next 4 card savered. I am really liking how clean these cards are. I am going to force myself not to open another one. image

There are no marks on the Martinez card. Just my scanner again, lol..

    Edit to add: rescanned them..

WOW, I am impressed at how nice these are!

GREAT looking cards, so often rips are disappointing with off-centered cards, if the corners are as nice as they look you have lots of 8's and 9's maybe a 10 or two!

Thanks, Joe! These cards were all razor sharp and very clean. Only factor to determine for submission really is centering.

The centering is tremendous on these!! Add that to the sharp corners, bright colors, and clear registration and you have a recipe for high grades.

I know the Grimsley (as it is in the mini set also) is one of the toughest cards in the 75 set, and I'm figuring this one is probably in 7/8 range.

Next up--the Final 4 and the big hit!

I don't know how I missed this post originally, but very sharp cards Tim! Seems I remember a sequence for 75 Topps where the Jim Rice RC falls two cards behind the Reggie, you remember if the Reggie was toward the back of one of the panels?

Thanks, baz! The sequence unfortunately broke after the Jackson card (which is not uncommon in these racks), so I didn't get the Rice, but the Jackson more than made up for it! image

In that condition, definitely! I've always loved the 75 set, especially when you see cards like that. Here's hoping some of the other cards pop a good # for you too.

I did. Grades were much tougher than I had anticipated, as almost all of the 8s looked Mint 9 worthy in my estimation. This sub overall took longer than any other I've submitted (57 business days) and grades were much harsher than average, imo, as I have submitted hundreds of 75s in the past. I will post some more scans in a little bit, but here are the grades on the other 75s. I am grateful the Jackson graded Mint 9. I still believe it has at least a chance at a PSA 10, too.

Tim ... that Reggie is AWESOME! Kind of tough to know what they saw to not give it the almighty "TEN".

    I'll be REAL picky:
    1. The slight white on the bottom left corner?
    2. The little dark spot along the bottom edge on the right side?
    3. The TINY white dot above the letter "A" at the top?

This looks nicer than some of the other "9s" up on eBay right now.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Definitely within parameters for a 10 and truthfully it looks better than one of the 10s I've seen. Don't forget, too, that this card is blown up several times its actual size. I've gotten 10s with less eye appeal than this 9.
