Craigslist pickup with scans--Should I grade before reselling?

I found an add on Craigslist last week for a childhood collection running from the 1950's into the 80's. After a few emails and phone calls, I finally had a chance to take a look today. The collection consisted of 5 albums with about 45 9 pocket pages each loaded with HOFERS and stars in poor to exmt condition. There is a nice complete set run of Topps BB from 1966 thru 1985. 66-76 are in exmt to nm condition and the remainder all appear in nm-mt condition. Also included are partial sets from 55-65 in vg-nm condition. After a little negotiating, we struck a deal and here are a few scans of some the stars, these are seperate from those in the sets.

Question for the masses, is it worth while to grade any of this given the lower to mid grade condition. Basically, would I get more bang for my buck selling raw or graded given the condition?

Very cool pickup. Gives the rest of us hope to find some real vintage on craigslist.
It wouldn't hurt to get the 1954 Aaron in a slab.

I'd grade the heavy hitter cards, Aaron RC, Mantles (go with an OC qualifier on the 1969), Ryan RC...basically any star card with a PSA 8 value of $1000 or more unless it's a real beater. Have you scrubbed the sets to see if any mint or low pop NM-MT cards managed to survive in the collection? It happens sometimes. Good luck!

Yeah I missed the mantle. That should be slabbed, along with Aaron RC.

I never pass up looking through these when offered. Never know when you may find an elusive 1990 TOPPS Thomas NNO.

    If you have the time:

I'd use VCP on a 1 day subscription if you do not already subscribe.

Go thru all the stars 1 by 1 and determine what you could get for them raw on eBay.

Then pre-grade all the cards if you sent them in to PSA. Lower your estimation by 1 grade.

Look up the graded card prices on VCP.

If VCP, less the cost to grade, is higher than what you determined you could get for it raw, then get it graded. If not, sell it raw.

I'd also go thru the sets to see if you have any variations that are worth decent money.

    STAY HEALTHY!
