Back Centering

PSA's grading standards require 90/10 back centering for a PSA 8. In reality, anything short of miscut will do. Here is the back of a 1971 PSA 8...do the math...this is not 90/10, the bottom border is so thin I don't even have an instrument to measure it accurately....

so, what does the front of the card look like? perhaps that would give you a bit more insight as to the choice of overall grade assigned here.
i've had similar cards graded this way, so it's not out of character for them to do so.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Why have grading requirements if they're not really requirements? The front looks fine. If the front looking nice is enough to give the back a pass, don't list a back centering standard for a given grade, because it's meaningless.
<< <i>It's a hit that doesn't affect the front of the card. It could be made to look green again with a fingernail, if you know what I mean.... >>
heh. so who hit it, if ya know what i mean? is this your card and was the corner like that before you subbed it?
because, uh........ummmm........they've f'd up a few of mine that way over the years as well. and yes, i have cracked and corrected a couple of 'em, too.
they are not perfect. they grade millions of cards. it's not an excuse. but, quite simply they either can be mistaken or they don't interpret their own parameters properly.
which is common behavior for humans, anyways. let's talk about machines.
