Any CU Forum Members In The Delmarva Peninsula Area?

I'm hoping that I can get some help from members familar with the area. I've started a new job, and I'm in the process of moving to somewhere on the Delmarva (Delaware/Maryland/Virginia) peninsula. I will eventually settle within 30 miles of the Salisbury, MD area. Are there any local card shops or regular card shows that I should check out? Preferably something within an hour or two drive. Thanks for the help guys.

You are moving to a great area. I live in virginia but vacation a lot at the beaches near there. I am interested to see if other members know of any shows...I am pretty sure the Ocean City Convention Center stopped doing shows a while back. It is a bit of a hike for you, but the Chantilly Va show is really good, with a lot of huge autograph guests. It is quarterly and probably a two hour trip that is well worth it. Where are you moving from?

I'm moving from the Southeast corner of South Dakota so a big change for me. It does seem to be a great area from everything I've seen so far.

Chantilly came to mind for me too, but I looked it up and it's about a 2hr drive. It's the CSA show and they usually have a lot of good autograph guests and lots of vendors. I think it usually goes for at least 3 days.

I would think there would be some sort of card/sports show in Ocean City but dont' know for sure. You may want to look into that.

Thanks for the help guys. Are prices reasonable at the Chantilly show or do people primarily go for the signings?

Don ... Congrats on your new job. This move is just a little further than your last on! HAHAHA

Keep in touch after your move. Maybe we can meet up after you move to the East Coast!

Thanks guys. I'm actually here now, living out of a hotel, with my family moving out to join me at the end of May. Still need to sell the house in SD and find one here. I do plan on going to NYC sometime Doug. 4-5 hour trip I think?

There always seems to be a lot of people there for autographs, especially ones for the local teams. They usually have some inexpensive auto guests and even some free ones that will sit up front and sign sometimes.

I've bought lots of junk wax just for ripping fun and the prices were less than online dealers and cheaper because there were no shipping charges. The raw and graded cards I've bought haven't been expensive cards, but even with that, the dealers were open to haggling on the price somewhat.

    Good luck with your move!

I've got a second house in OC (Ocean Pines) and there used to be a large show at the OCCC, but that is long gone. Never really notice anything significant anymore. An old card/hobby shop used to be just off the boardwalk on 14th, but that, I believe, is gone now, too. If you find anything, let us know. It is a great area and I'll be happy when they add poker tables at Ocean Downs Casino...

They're doing a monthly show. I know it was posted here at some point. Much closer (a little over an hour) than Chantilly.

I don't know of anything on the eastern shore of MD.

As an aside, you might or might not know that the Orioles have a single A affiliate in Salisbury called the Delmarva Shorebirds.....They play in a nice little stadium and in the concourse is a neat museum dedicated to baseball history in the Eastern Shore area. Worth checking out a game or two this spring/summer if you get the chance.
