Maybe a strange thought on autographs

We've all seen the canceled checks of athletes from decades past. What about modern credit card receipts? When Charles Barkley pays with his Capital One card he needs to sign something. Why don't those receipts ever make it into the collectibles market? Or do they?

I believe that Mike Navarro has/had a credit card receipt from Patrick Ewing.

Most receipts these days are on thermal paper. After a year or two all you will have is an auto on a blank slip of paper.

I purchased this from the Chi Chi's restaurant manager directly in probably 1999 or so (I editied out the actual cc #) & had it slabbed a couple years ago:

Thenavarro, a very well respected member of this board. His autograph collection is AMAZING. At one time he had a complete run of US PRESIDENTS and a very impressive collection of autographed rookie cards.

Why is this a bad thing?

The "auto" might be blank as well. These are not carbons image
If the signature stays, you will have no context. I have never seen a collector of signed coktail napkins, matchbooks (even from The Stork Club, it's a tough sell)...I once had a scarce Talk of the Town program from a Liza Minnelli show in 1967 signed by Gleason on the wine list - a super signature too - and no interest. And that was ink on glossy paper. Checks and this type of thing - no guarantee it is genuine. Lou Costello's checks are sometimes not in his hand.

Haha, hi, I recognize you avatar. I've found I'm not really good at noticing people's names, just their logos. Which gets confusing when 1/3 of the people on here are rocking a 52 Topps Mantle

I've had the same avatar except for one bad month after the BCS Championship when I lost a bet and had to sport a Crimson Tide avatar. I didn't post a lot that month image

These are very nice autographs, but how is it legal to sell a signed credit card receipt? With identity theft such a big thing these days I am surprised this is allowed.
