Guy slams PSA on an eBay Auction

Never seen this before. Why use the PSA boards anymore? Just put up an item for auction and you have your own space in the description for rants! What's the world coming to? 1968 1963 Mickey Mantle ***PSA 8 ERROR*** PSA Slam

"Look at the picture again. This is a 1963 and not a 1968. PSA provided me with this shoddy piece of work along with many others while screwing me out of $750 of under-graded cards. Many were absolutely flawless and came back as PSA 5's!! This was done after calling them and asking what was taking so long with my submission (112 cards) They claim that everything gets checked 3 or 4 times but this is simply a lie. PSA scammed me and I wish I would have read the horror stories about them before sending in my collection to get under graded. Needless to say that I will NEVER use PSA again!! Oh, and speaking of 1963, I haven't been laid since then!!! Do a friend a good deed and send this listing to them by clicking 'share this item' Good bye PSA, hello Beckett for me."

Read the description closely and you'll understand.

Well, if he ranted here, he would be banned, so that explains that one. Some of his rant has merit, other parts do not.

Why are you surprised? Error on the label or not, it's still worth $80+. The offer is likely $100 or less.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Chances are there is a NM-MT 1968 Topps AL Batting Leaders card sitting in a "1963 Topps AL Batting Leaders PSA 5" holder somewhere..

  • The more surprising thing is that he sent in his collection. Sad day when a mans baseball card collection is only 112 cards image

If he thinks the cards that graded 5 should be 8s or 9s, he needs to update his prescription eyeglasses!

I see these sort of things way too often. Everyone thinks they are a grading expert... When you explain that they are over-grading their cards, they argue with you. When they send them in and they come back as you warned, the grading company if corrupt. When someone else gets good grades and the cards "look just like" theirs', they must be paying off the graders. Some people just assume that they know everything, but prove that they know nothing!

Maybe they're the old school dealers. Remember, they were the ones who would pay you for cards based on them deeming them VG and then turn around and market them as NM-MT.

Reminds me of the old George Carlin skit about their crap being gold and everyone else's gold being crap...

This is one of his cards for sale. It certainly looks like it deserves the (OC) tag to me.
With the tilt and maybe a touched corner a 9 (OC) might have been a gift.

A bit OT, but also has a bit of relevance....I was at a small, local coin show a couple of years ago. There were only about 30 tables and it was at a community center so the room wasn't all that big. I'm in the back of the room looking at a dealer's stuff when some dealer nearby declares loud enough for the whole room to hear, "I can grade. People bring their coins to ME because I KNOW HOW TO GRADE!".

That coin dealer came to mind when I read this thread.
  • This card? Really? All the fuss over what should have never been graded in the first place? Only a blind man would want this card...

He was lucky to get the 9 even if with the qualifier on that Ryan card.
