Someone's shooting for a bump...

Went for 3+ times VCP!

1959 - Jimmy Brown PSA 7

Nice looking card, I wonder if the discoloration on the back keep it at a 7?

Has a registration problem also. You can see it on the name , number on his jersey and the bottom outline of the card pic. Unless it's the scan. If it's not the scan, put that registration issue with the back issue pointed out and it may be just a nice PSA 7.

Yep, I see it now that you pointed it out, yellow is the hardest one to see! image

Registration probs always bring out my OCD image
    And that yellow don't help

Always tough to really tell from the scan, I see a edge nick/ding on edge right of football and probably corners not as sharp as they appear, i.e. likely a reason given a 7 in the first place...someone likely feel in love with the scan. For example, while I am happy with my PSA 5 Mantle an edge ding (likely caused by rubber band) and corners are not as nice as my (unaltered) scan represents this card...

The bidder who bid it up has 72% bidding with Andy Madec. His only bidded football card. Call it what you want, but if he don't bid, the card sells for $142 (which is where it should have ended in the first place, and even THAT is a premium). No offense, but bidding more on a 7, than you can pay for an '8'???!!!?!?! Someone forgot to take the trash out - it stinks.

Nice PSA 8 for $50 less!

    Bobby,

Are you suggesting that shill bidding was involved? If so, why would the shill bidder bid that much higher than VCP? It doesn't make sense.

The top bidder is no rookie. Someone has to think the card is worth what it sells for.

This card looks strong in the scan. What does a 7.5 or an 8 go for?

hey Bobby. guess what? next time we see that PSA 7 Jimmy, it won't be a PSA 7 Jimmy. it'll be a highly touted raw card which likely will command an even higher amount at auction.

wise move, experienced eBayer. wise, indeed.

VCP on the same card in a PSA 8 is $260. I provided a link where the seller is asking $50 MORE than VCP average, and it is STILL $50 less than what that card sold for. So, if the person is looking for a bump, he better get a big one!

That's a pretty good idea. Almost as good as trying to sell a raw trimmed card, advertising it as NM

    I 100% agree with Bobby

Bump or not it had better get higher than an 8

You talking about the one that turned into a BVG 8? Oh yea......I guess I should have advertised it as NM/MT.

After a second and third look, I still don't see it bumping past a 7. If it did bump, it would then be overgraded IMO and would create a whole new thread if it popped up for sale on eBay again in the next few months. New thread would be titled "Is this really an 8?" Comments in thread would include everything from "buy the card, not the holder" to "is that case frosty? I believe the real 8 was taken out and replaced with what may be a 6.5 or 7" image

Coming soon to a 9 holder near you...
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
