Bill Me Later

I've never used this option when buying on eBay. Will I be charged interest if I choose that? I got an offer of $10 back when I choose bill me later, but will what I pay for the item increase vs what it would be if I pay right away?

You will be charged interest on any outstanding monthly balance. The interest rates (and line of credit) are dependent upon your credit rating and even the best rates are usually well in excess of a standard credit card. The one positive is that, from time to time, Bill Me Later offers "No Interest" options for select level purchases if the balance is paid within a specific time frame (minimum payments are often required).

Thanks to otw and no thanks to ebay's offer.

The Bill Me Later option (with the "No Interest for 12 Months") was pretty handy when eBay offered the 4x and the 10% eBay Bucks the past few months. Allowed me to grab some reasonably priced BIN items that I felt had some upside and then move them and pay the BML invoice and pocket the profits... Nice to be able to play with someone else's grand or two interest-free... Mike Trout says, "You're welcome..."

I have always dismissed this offer.
Isn't it a credit card? Offer is basically to get u to sign up for a cc?

is it that simple......just pay balance in specified time..no cc?

Never used it. If I don't have the play money to buy cards, I won't buy them.

It is a credit card and if you sign up for one, it is treated on your credit report as such.

It is just an extended credit line beyond the PayPal credit line that can be used on a variety of things. I've used it to book flights and get 6 to 12 months interest free. The cash is there to pay for things, but it isn't the worst thing to be able to defer payments sometimes.

The crazy thing with Bill me later....is they decide this after you buy the card. If you do not have the funds...you might be up sh*t crick. Let's say your credit is not to good due to past issues of things....you will not get the credit line....so don't buy the $2000 card and not have good credit and try to use BML._______And no, I did not do this.

I believe they offer a limited line of credit initially. If a larger line is requested, they run the credit check. I don't think they're affording anyone an unlimited line of credit for goods without safeguards in place.
  • Are people really this scared of a credit card? Pay the balance each month. Take the free $10.

I just wish they would stop asking me to use it... how many times do I have to decline!

I've used this several times to take advantage of the Ebay Bucks promotion for an extra 1-2% on my purchase. As long as you are good with budgeting and pay off the balance before the expiration of the no interest period, it's a good way to make some extra money from Ebay.

BML has been good to me lately. With the 4x and 10% ebucks promotion, i got 6 months no pay or no interest and an extra 1% in ebucks. Add that to the 1% Fat Wallet is offering and I was able to get 12% off/ebucks for this last round. No issues on my end.
