question about 1988 Donruss Nolan Ryan

I know this is not a very hot card, but I recall seeing or owning a 1988 Donruss Nolan Ryan base card but it has the front border design reversed. Is this a variation or maybe just a factory set version vs. the common pack version?

Any ideas?

thanks- John

I believe it is the factory set version. Also, adding a question to the original question, are the backs of the factory set cards facing the opposite direction as well? (same direction as '82-'86 Donruss)

  • I found the card. The backs of both varieties are the exact same. Ive seen the common version on top 1000+ times bc i browse Nolan Ryan lots, but only one or two of the reversed version. What is the actual ratio? Is there any demand for the reverse version, or is it also worthless?

  • That must be a super rare 1988 Donruss/Milton Bradley Nolan Ryan

no real value (or lack thereof) for the border differences...Player collectors like me think they are cool because it's just another variation to add to the collection.

From Beckett.com: The card front border design pattern of the factory set card fronts is oriented differently from that of the regular wax pack cards. No premium or discount exists for either version.
