NFL Free Agency

jdip9jdip9 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭
Are we going to go through the charade of playing the regular season and playoffs next year, or should we just have Denver and Seattle play for the title in Week 1 and just give everyone the year off?

I wish the Pats would take Denver's go-for-broke strategy. Their window with Brady is closing, they need to go all-in to make a run at one last Super Bowl. A good start would be Revis.

The Pats are a joke when it comes to free agency, hell they are a joke when it comes time to resign their own players.

Congrats to Bob Kraft! YOU have single handedly ruined all these chances at Super Bowls since 2007 and continue to be happy with putting a sub par team around Tom Brady because you are so godamn cheap.

heck, with the way the Broncos played (or did not play) in the Superbowl last month, why not just give the Seahawks the Lombardi Trophy for the 2015 Superbowl now and just cancel the 2014 season all together. Frickin Broncos, make me want to gag.imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

    Yeah I am still ticked!!!!!!!!!!

Im still ticked off about 2007 let alone the BS since then LOL so I truly know how you feel!

You got to at least be thankful that the Broncos are TRYING to win.

Revis signed by Pats 1 yr, $12 mil. That's a start.

I'm a bit shocked at Denver. I know Manning's clock is running out and they are going for broke, but damn....talk about overpaying for a couple guys in Talib and Ware. Their only problem wasn't the defense that lost them the Super Bowl, it wasn't able to stop an above average defense that got pressure with four. Oh well...if Peyton makes it through the regular season in one piece, that's an accomplishment in itself.

Decker coming to NY. Not quite the same as having Manning as the QB, though, LOL..

And he'll face Revis twice a year.

Generally speaking, I don't think people give Decker enough credit. Certainly he's not an elite WR from a physical ability perspective, but anyone that thinks he is what he is solely because of Manning is mistaken. With Tebow as his QB, he had 8 TDs and 13.9 ypc (similar to his ypc with Manning).

I am not implying that Decker is not a solid WR, but anyone who followed the offensive struggles of the NY Jets offense last season understands that expectations should obviously be tempered. And without a bonafide no. 1 wideout like Thomas to take the pressure off or any semblance of a decent TE, much less a guy like Orange Julius, it will be interesting to see if Decker can replicate those numbers as the (now) clearly no. 1 receiver for the Jets.

Leave it to Jerry Jones to actually make the Cowboys worse off than they were a week ago.
  • jdip9jdip9 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭
I agree grote, they need another weapon (or two). I don't expect 1,200 yds/ 10 TDs from Decker, but that is more a reflection on the overall state of the Jets offense, not what I think of Decker's abilities. You weren't necessarily saying it, but I've heard others say that Decker's success is due 100% to playing with Manning, and I don't think that is the case at all.

I agree. He had 612 yds on 44 receptions, 8 tds with Tim Tebow at QB in 2011. That is some good production.

Granted his stats almost doubled with Manning at QB but that would be expected going from Tebow to Manning.

IMO Ware is going to have a strong bounce back year and should do well in Denver where he will actually have another dynamic pass rusher opposite of him. I really hope Jerry doesn't get desperate and over pay to bring Hatcher or Spencer back.

Yup. my thoughts exactly. He's got at least two good years left maybe three.

I'm thinking Jerry will end up sigining Spencer once Hatcher is snatched up.

Yea hopefully its right through a Super Bowl, either way even you cant argue that Revis is a better option than Talib and dont forget Talib has logged like 2 quarters of total play in the Playoffs for the Pats.

Brandon Lafell signs with the Pats, that will give Brady a prototypical WR

Im liking what the Pats are doing this offseason, no clue which direction they will be going in the draft, Im not sure if their are any DT's in the mix to possibly replace Wilfork who I highly doubt will be in New England come training camp..
  • jdip9jdip9 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭
I'm not sure what that says about their feelings for Dobson and Thompkins making the leap in Year 2, but I like the LaFell signing.

It's like an arms race between the Broncos, Pats, and Colts this off-season. Those 3 teams have really separated themselves from the pack in the AFC.

How do you guys feel they feel (on paper) will fair against the top few in the NFC?

If healthy I think the pats can beat anyone in the AFC and the NFC, Im not saying they will but they are already looking much better than last year.

Thompkins disapeared n the second half after a productive first half then Dobson appeared so who knows what to expect, both are not 100% healthy either.

IMO, despite the AFC free agent signings, the Seahawks and 49ers are still the class of the NFL right now. The top of the AFC closed the gap a little, but as we saw in the Super Bowl, it's a pretty big gap.

I guess you didn't learn much during your time out, after all.

I loath the man! The first thing he did as the new owner was fire Coach Landry!image

He did make that BIG trade with Minn. and hired a great coach (Johnson) that is why Dallas won those 3 SB's.

The he forced Johnson out and turned into another Al Davis!

    I LOATH HIM!!!!!

Firing Landry was no doubt a tough decision but it had to be done. As great a coach as he was, times changed but he didn't. To be successful in anything you need to roll with the changes but he was too old for that and the NFL and it's players moved on without him. I understand you didn't like the move but you need to realize that it was that move that brought the Cowboys 3 world championships with all credit going to Jimmy Johnson, the real mastermind behind the Cowboys success of the 90's.

Jimmy also orchestrated the Hesrchel Walker deal not Jerry. The only credit I give Jerry was his move to hire Jimmy as the coach.

  • DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭
We sure have had a string of Bozo coaches since Jimmy haven't we. The only good one in the bunch was "the Fish" and Jerry wouldn't let him coach.

Jerry, Tony and Jason all need to go!
