eBay Free Listing Promotions Drying up?

Not sure what everybody else is experiencing, but I haven't had a free listing offer in almost a month. I've sold a TON over the last two years, and haven't paid to list a single item due to the frequency of free listing offers. I assumed last year that they were really trying to get people hooked so that they'd get eBay Store subscriptions, but the free listing offers just never seemed to dry up.

So maybe they've decided that now is the time to pull the carpet out from under those of us who have been listing for free for a couple of years?

Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

The last one I received was 2-3 weeks ago for Free Auctions (including 10-Day duration). I also jump all over these when they come. I don't think they stopped doing them, I just think we're in-between specials right now. I bet a new one hits in a few days. The nice part is, they save your unsold auctions for up to 60 days, so you can re-list them easily once a special pops up. image

I'm sure they'll be back next month if not before, looks like they were throwing a bone to store subscribers this month...

To add: It's funny... if you go look for the old messages in your MyEbay messages, they delete the Special Offer messages from your history. I always found this odd. It's like they don't want you to have proof of that offer. I'm guessing it's copied to your own email, I just never check my ebay email address.

  • Hi, I'm new here and about free listing on ebay just had one a few weeks ago and now i'm waiting for a new one, the nice thing about free listing is it will list for you 3 times so you don't have to realist again so now just lay back and wait, hope that helps.
  • I don't think it is drying up, they were just pushing the ebay store with automatic monthly renewal. It was actually a smart move by them as I'm sure many of us have hundreds of cards in the system built up from previous promotions. For me though, I've loved the free listings since I could just list and sell as many $1 cards/lots as I could with cards that are just taking up space and I wouldn't have had the motivation to scan otherwise. Heck, those $1 sales paid for my last sub so I'm hoping April will have a free listing period.

It seems to be luck of the draw. First two months of this year I had a combined 60000 free listings. This month I got 2500 plus another 10000 auction style (min start .99 or less).

I have an eBay store, Top Rated, Silver Level Power Seller etc, and I get about 2-3 different offers a month...currently I have these active:

    1) 2500 Auction of Fixed (any price)
    2) 500 Free Listings (comes with Store subscription)
    3) 10,000 Free Auction (.99 start price)
    4) Maximum Final Value Fee $100 in certain categories (up to 1M listings, yes, that's 1,000,000 listings)
    5) 6 Free Vehicle Listings (per year)

I have the exact same except I have a different level of store so get 2500 free per month. I did not get the 50000 that someone else here did.

Keep in mind that you can get double the free listings should you have any interest in listing on both ebay.com and .ca It's a bit of a pain as you cannot combine items purchased from both on to one invoice but I list my hockey on ebay.ca and other sports on ebay.com and not many people combine hockey purchases with sports that Americans actually care about.

How much do you have to pay for your ebay store? Does it really save you that much money in fees? I haven't paid a listing fee in a long time, and I typically have about 1000 auctions running at any given time.

I have over 20000 listings at times so yes it does pay to have the store.

Today I got another 50000 free auction style listings
