Opinion appreciated...1981 Baseball topps vending box..offered cheap

I have the opportunity to purchase several 1981 vending boxes sealed with bbce seal. Fresh from the case. I am offered it at $70 per box. It's listed on web site at $85 a box. I don't recall the previous price before the price increase. And how long it sat at that price.

Thoughts? Pull the trigger? Also, I'm not a huge fan of 81 vending and wasn't looking for any but have been presented the opportunity by a friend who bought them "accidentely" I may just rip them. Doubt it's worth holding for appreciation, or maybe it is.

Thanks for any opinions.

I bought one of those 1981 Topps Baseball vending boxes in July 2009 for $40. Should have bought more, LOL.

Depending when he got them, he may be making a little profit on them. Good luck if you purchase them as that is a good price now.

I'd buy them, but if you have no desire to open them say no. Or sell them to me
  • Sorry,....yes baseball...

Digdug..so your saying to rip them. Otherwise at that price you don't see much price appreciation? Also even appreciation of $20 per not really worth the hassle of storing them, etc.

So I guess I have to decide if $70 per, is it worth a good rip?

Depending on budget, I'd buy em and rip one for fun. If it's not as fun as you hope, you can sit for a bit and flip em. They don't take much space.

Wrapped by BBCE and labeled from a sealed case makes em pretty liquid if need be.

I guess it depends how many boxes you are talking about.

Just a few. How does that matter? Do you suggest rip a couple, save a couple?
  • Vintage fun,

Great point. Tho just for a few it's more of a pain to ship. But ur exactly correct, that helps. Thanks.
  • I just bought and ripped one. I wish I kepted it sealed.
