Question on vending boxes vs. unopened packs

I have so far limited my vintage purchases to boxes of packs, in one form or another. Can someone explain the appeal of vending boxes? I always assumed the cards are more susceptible to damage in a vending box. Is that true? I know there isn't a gum or wax stain issue to deal with. Is that another appeal? What if the boxes were stored improperly, then opened. Do you wind up with a sticky brick of cards?

The appeal of vending is that they are usually cheaper than any other option. I would not buy vending, except from a friend or bbce though.
I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid.

  • I almost bought $2K in unopened vending from Fritsch but then they wanted me to mail a money order. Old school those guys are but legit stuff(although there is the 71 horror story).
  • 3boyz,
I'm not familiar with the 71 horror story. Can you fill us, me in? Thanks.
I recall a 71 vending box up for auction a couple yrs ago. I think it was a smaller auction house
