Sub results: K, K, K, K, hit by pitch, ejected, error

I was not pleased. If anyone know's 62 football....the Brown is not a 6. The leaf Williams' color and print quality are impeccable. 60 Kubek....expensive 8-no dice, 71 Rose...7 because it's not a 9, 69 WL...you're joking, 65 Rose....not funny, 59 Phillies...expensive 8-no dice. What's going on???

In case the question comes up....I did not cheap out. Williams/express sub, others/reg....not bulk.

That rose has to have a wrinkle on it or something to get a 5. All nice cards, but tough grades. That Williams is awesome looking.

Does that 71 rose have an indent on his batting hand? Looks almost like a fingernail indentation.

The jimmy brown has tremendous eye appeal for the grade! ......... The '65 Rose and ' 71 Rose are also really nice.

Love the Williams. I think you got hit hard on those grades.

    Orioles,

That is a common print mark on like all 71 Roses.

I am not an expert on grades but it does look like you got a rough break on most of those cards. The Williams in particular looks great for a 6. It is unfortunate but it seems you are going to have to pay twice to get the right grades on some of these as at least a few look like they should easily get a bump upon resubmission. Good luck if you decide to resub.

I wonder if the Wes Parker was down graded because of the fuzzy image?? Centering is slightly off L/R.

Yup. There is no possible way that card could be a 5 otherwise. The card in the scan looks like a 7.5 or an 8.

    The Brown is definitely undergraded.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

    Tough grades for you Mickey71.

All look nicer but the 65 Rose must have some type of wrinkle or something.

The Leaf Willams does have great color but I would agree with that grade even with the very large scan. There is too much corner wear for a 7 and it also does have some very light surface wear.
How come the Williams card does not fill the holder? Is this a size issue with the 48 Leaf for the Psa holders?

edited ---> I changed my mind. Maybe that Leaf could be a 7. image Tough call for me. Worth a resub I guess.

All of those cards are very, very nice for their grade. If I am being honest I think all of these cards are graded correctly though. The Williams card has the best potential for a successful review. The white letter card got a PSA 6 because of it being out of focus and not because of the centering or corners. The Brown has too much chipping to be in a PSA 8 holder and perhaps could be considered for a PSA 7- centering is spot on with that card. The Phillies card is a tough card in high grade and your card has four touched corners-bottom right has a small line from being dinged. Overall the cards are incredible but I would think you might have one bone thrown your way.

There appears to be either a surface crease or wrinkle starting at the white border, just below the pennant, upwards and slightly to the right.

Looks like the only one you really got killed on is the 69 Parker. Looks like an 8.

The others looked like 6-7's and they fell in that range. As other pointed out the Rose looked to have a wrinkle which explains the 5.

Nice cards though and great scans.

There should be at least a few .5's in there.

Am I the only one who sees very strange looking left borders on the Parker and 65 Rose?
Also, Parker has bad registration. That probably dropped it at least one grade.

I noticed it as well, but think it's a vending box like 'curl' to the cards where they wouldn't lay perfectly flat. There shouldn't be any grade deduction for that though.

The Brown in a 6 holder for 62 FB is a complete joke.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

no. i was gonna mention it, but i think Danny's taken enough abuse already. sometimes a card will take on that appearance because of a slight warp while otherwise being very crisp.

Does the Brown have some spider creases in the lower right corner area?
  • Mickey71Mickey71 Posts: 4,259 ✭✭✭✭
The Brown is a solid card. No creases on the corners. Enlarge a scan of 62 Football and see if they look that good. I thought the grades were tough on most of these. If I put these type of scans up of vintage cards in 9 and 10 holders, you would see wear.

    Mickey,
I had the same grader with my most recent order. It was my first submission in a long time, and I filled it with high grade, strong condition cards. I got hammered. I felt all but two cards were lower than they "could" have been, and at least half were egregious errors.
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!

Actually from what we can tell, the grades seem to be very fair.
