Off L/R centering. Slight. Part of the left edge is under the lip of the case however. Can't see enough about the rest of the card to really offer any other opinion. The way the border frames the player pic on 88 OPC can also create a heluva optical illusion at times. Kinda like like 84 Topps football IMO. Where even 10's appear to be tilted or slanted.

They should know enough to give it a slight tap on the side so the card is better centered within the holder before creating the sales listing if it is indeed optical illusion due to the lip, but first impression is that that sure is some fugly centering for a supposed 10.

I knew this was going to be a 4 sharp corners auction before I opened the thread.

I am so freaking sick of seeing these 10's from 4 sharp corners. It's just souring me on everything. I'd feel lucky to get a 9 on that, more like an 8.

Buy the holder not the card!

I'd blame PSA. They put the following on the slab : Gem Mint 10.
As for 4sharp, they're just selling the card. And if I'm to believe what PSA says about grading, the graders are not told who subbed the cards, correct? Now to not believe that means that PSA does favor certain subbers and sellers by giving them higher grades. Which would in turn would kill the credibility of 3rd party grading in their case. Making it fraudulent by playing favorites, and giving the "grade bump" to only a select few.
Lets say one of us subbed that Hull(or any other card), and it received the same exact grade. What are the chances any of us would, in a seller listing, say the following: "Even though this has been graded a Gem Mint 10 by the most respected graders around, I refuse to sell at a 10 price due to issues I see with the card". My guess is , not many of us would be that forthcoming. I know I wouldn't, and I certainly ain't gonna lie and say I'd price it as a 9 image

Postulating grading favoritism seems to get threads locked or poofed fairly quickly.

I'm not blaming anyone. It is what it is...no conspiracy theories here. They have thousands of cards graded. The laws of average say a certain number will get over graded and a certain number will be under graded. So, yah, that's what I meant image

Agreed. I was just going to say something similar.

I trust PSA and have no doubts about its honesty. With that said, there remains a human element-- mistakes are made and judgment calls are made that some may not agree with. We cannot do anything about that. It is what it is so they say.

I also have to imagine grading day in and day out is a grinding chore. I could not personally handle it. I can only imagine the concentration that must be maintained to stay focused. I point that out as I do not doubt fatigue has to at times impact grading. It's just part of human nature.
  • I can see how a grader would miss something after looking at cards all day but this is high profile rookie. It's supposed to be reviewed by a second grader to confirm the grade. Centering looks 60/40 so it is probably at the very outside of what is acceptable for a 10.
I would only pay a 9 price for this card though.

I've submitted dozens of this card with 50/50 centering. Still can't get higher than a 9.
I'm still chasing that 10. I'll get it one day.

I've seen some of your examples and all of them put this piece of garbage to shame.
