Tom and Joe Kuehnert had a thriving business as partners for many years. Tom was semi retired in New Hampshire, and in recent years had found a niche in the Canadian market. We received word from his son today. Tom had struggled with a chronic illness. image

One of the good buys. He will be missed.

Do I recall correctly that, for a while, he had some connection to Bowers and Ruddy?

Sad news. Tom was a contributer to the Canadian Coin Reference Site for a few years when that site showed some activity.

There were two Tom Beckers in the coin trade, and I have always confused them. One of them did work for B&R.

Colonel, Tom was out here when B & Ruddy were on
Hollywood Blvd. (right across the street from where
the Oscars were held last night)......

Saw him there numerous times when I would go up
there w/Harry Gordon to sell Bowers US gold I bought
    in Europe the week before.....

Tom was a nice guy - didn't know him that well, but I
always held him in high regard......

I spoke to Tom many times and bought many coins from him. He always treated me fairly and was always a gentleman. He will be missed.

Very sad news. Geesh. We were just talking about Tom the other day in the office. About how he was such a nice guy and that we were going to send him a group of Canadian coins for his offer. My condolences to Tom's family and close friends.

Tom was connected with the Bowers & Merena organization some years ago, and had a column in the Coin Review magazine/fixed price catalog they published at one time. He will be sadly missed.

I bought three or four very nice commens from them, early on when I first got interested in the series. As I got closer to completing the 50 coin set, I showed what I had to dealers like Swiatek and Shepard (and a few others who I considered knowledgeable about the series) and no one ever suggested replacing the coins B&K had sold me. I was a rookie as far as commems were concerned and could easily have been taken advantage of.

Sad news. My condolences to his family and friends.

Tom Becker was a great dealer and his Confessions of a Coin Dealer book is a great read. I bought several coins from him, the coolest of which is an 1843 Original half cent in ANACS Proof-12, which I still own.

    RIP, Tom.

Sad to hear. I bought many coins from Becker and Kuehnert. And in the course of those purchases years ago, I spoke to Tom several times and like others have said, he always treated me fairly and was a gentleman. In addition to the coins, I appreciated his insights, some of which he published in newsletters.
