Another long time dealer has left us. Tom Becker has passed.

Tom and Joe Kuehnert had a thriving business as partners for many years. Tom was semi retired in New Hampshire, and in recent years had found a niche in the Canadian market. We received word from his son today. Tom had struggled with a chronic illness.

Do I recall correctly that, for a while, he had some connection to Bowers and Ruddy?

There were two Tom Beckers in the coin trade, and I have always confused them. One of them did work for B&R.
Hollywood Blvd. (right across the street from where
the Oscars were held last night)......
Saw him there numerous times when I would go up
there w/Harry Gordon to sell Bowers US gold I bought
in Europe the week before.....
Tom was a nice guy - didn't know him that well, but I
always held him in high regard......

Very sad news. Geesh. We were just talking about Tom the other day in the office. About how he was such a nice guy and that we were going to send him a group of Canadian coins for his offer. My condolences to Tom's family and close friends.
Tom Becker was a great dealer and his Confessions of a Coin Dealer book is a great read. I bought several coins from him, the coolest of which is an 1843 Original half cent in ANACS Proof-12, which I still own.
RIP, Tom.
