Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>I'm guessing they sign a whole sheet of stickers, so maybe he didn't realize he was going outside the sticker border on that one. >>
Yeah, I believe that is what they do. But you can still see the outline of the sticker.

Here is another one in the category of terrible auto sticker on an insanely over-priced card..
I hope all these examples of people not being able to sign within the designated boundaries of the sticker yields a modification in business practices for this sort of thing.

I think what's sadder is the employee that actually unpealed the sticker, said..that'll do, then stuck it on.I put the onus on him/her
True. Although, Deacon probably didn't really care. They gave him a sharpie and a small sticker to sign, you've seen how beat up his hands are now-a-days. Are you going to be the employee from Leaf to tell him....
"Yeah Deacon, thanks, but you have to do these all over again..."

True for Deacon, but what about Ronaldo?

$15,000...
Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time, who just won his second Ballon D'Or. Numbered 03 out of only 25 produced, this is his rarest autographed rookie. It is also a pop. 1, with none ever graded higher. These cards are notorious for the delicacy of their black border areas and the impermanence of their autographs. This is one .5 of one subgrade away from Gem Mint. It is likely the finest example there is of the great Ronaldo's best rookie card.
I'm glad they included the description that he is the greatest of all time, or I wouldn't have known who he was. Is that not a good Auto? He doesn't just sign his first name. like Pele ?
But hey, I didn't know Deacon had passed away...
It's a good auto to get, for sure, and pretty rare. I believe he only had auto cards issued in 2003 and 2004 by UD, and 2013-14 by Topps, with none in between. I can appreciate the scarcity in the condition it is in as well as accounting for his popularity. I would hesitate to consider it a rookie as compared to the 2002 Panini and the 2003 MegaCraques, but that is debatable and I understand arguments for it as an RC. If offered as auction, I could see it selling easily for over $1000 but I think it would struggle to pass $5k. Plus, the UK buyers do not seem as concerned with professional grading as the US buyers.
Obviously this value has increased over time, but there were two relevant sales during December 2012:
Here is one to compare
