<< <i>Finally got through the rest of the cards and ready to sub. Overall I think I'm going to sub 37 76's. 10 HOFers, 4 semi stars, 3 team cards, 15 commons, 5 specialty cards (leaders/all time greats) and one of the rookies cards. Altogether I think I've gone through around 7000 cards to arrive where I'm at. I already have 40 or so graded and this will add to the collection other than low pop 10's, which I would probably sell if I hit any. Here are some pictures of the low pops I'm going to sub. Let me know what you think. All backs should meet psa guidelines for 10s.

I wouldn't have subbed this, had I not seen one of the 2 psa 10s. Of course it is 4SC, but it has the same print error by the O in Orioles. So what the heck, I will try !

Is it me or does Joe Rudi look like Napolean Dyamite's Uncle Rico? >>

I do believe that was used in the loo alikes thread as a comparison to Uncle Ricco.

Well, guy's I got my grades back. I can't say that I'm satisfied but not completely disappointed. My Brett came back an 8, as most of the speculative guessing of the group thought. I did hit one low pop gem mint 10 (it's a pop 2) but I thought I would hit a couple more. I still can't seem to catch all of the "spider wrinkles" or whatever, as each of my subs I continue to get a couple of 5's on crazy nice cards that look like possible gems on initial inspection. Anyway, here are the grades. The Rudi, and Petrocelli I don't really care much about, but I am pretty bummed about missing something with the Schmidt. That card looked so freakin nice to me.

Congrats!! No matter what, the Brett is high-end. You gotta be happy with the Carty. Any Gem Mint makes the sub a success, especially a low pop!!
  • Those cards are sweet! Without getting a good look at the surfaces of them I would've expected you'd get a few more gems as well.
I'm a big Nolan Ryan fan OK???!!!
  • Well done! Great set.

I think you did awesome on the find and landing a PSA 8 Brett. Not sure if you are going to sell the Brett but if you do please keep me in mind. All of my sets have poorly centered Bretts so I could use a couple. The Rico card is going to bring some nice money for you should you sell that one. Thanks for sharing.

  • Is kill for a sub pop like that. Nice job 76'er

Very strong sub overall, imo! Better to get a few clunkers mixed in with some higher-end winners than no clunkers and all pedestrian grades!

Well guys, my renewal sub just popped and I had sent in the rest of my 76's that I didn't get sent in for the last sub. I am probably more pleased with this sub than any other that I've had even though I still had a couple I missed something on. I didn't hit the 9 on my Brett in my last sub, but did hit the 9 on my Aaron, and the Perez I'm really excited about.

76 Bretts are very difficult to find centered as are the Nolan Ryans IMO.

Jeff, thank you for creating this discussion and sharing your collection of 1976 Topps baseball cards. I am currently in the process of collecting 1978 Topps baseball cards, and the information that you have initiated by creating this discussion is very informative and useful. Your set is turning out to be very nice. I can only hope that mine is just as successful.
