Jefferson Nickel Market Still On Fire???

wondercoinwondercoin Posts: 16,966 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just had to pay nearly $4,000 on ebay for a 1955(d) nickel in PCGS-MS65FS. The auction was #1350976890. CU Price Guide on the coin is $75.

This also clearly displays the difficulty in attempting to fashion registry valuations around a "price guide". What is the coin REALLY "worth"? My winning bid tells very little except that underbidder wouldn't go higher than $3850 this morning. image Wondercoin.

Nice coin.......I remember being all but laughed out of coin shops buying Jeffersons. I did not think that I or everyone else would be paying ten times more for Jeffersons than I payed for Morgans ten years ago. I think they are on to us.

Does anyone have a nice PCGS Proof 66 Type II Jefferson??????

  • I think FS Jeffs are the toughest set I've worked on. I will finally make it into the top 5 ATF Mon or Tues when updates go through. I have to thank Frank Corso for the final group that got me there. What a grind--and it was getting expensive to buy some of the recent ones.

"Full Step" coins are interesting........I saw it as a fad years ago and didn't pay much attention. Now it appears I am going to chase them for another twenty years. I do like solid MS65 Jeffs but the PCGS two point deduction is a killer. Oh well......thats the game and I am having fun......I also agree with a previous thread that the registry is a great place to organize and log your collection.
