Before I started posting I lurked for a few years. In the past because of less monitoring and the Open Forum, members could get away with a lot more than is allowed now. When the Open Forum was shut down most of the omnipresent members went away for good.

The more infamous members have been mentioned already but anybody remember Iwog?

<< <i>perhaps the most inflammatory was K6AZ who had a personal vendetta towards Alan Hagar and Accugrade/ACG to the point where anybody who spoke in a way he construed as non-negative towards them was roundly scorned and harangued by him. if you remember, he was shown the door when he posted some very personal information about another member in an Open Forum thread, stuff like banking/credit card numbers and contact information.

of all the past/banned members, he may be the one that absolutely no one was sad to see go. >>

Hey I remember him, Foghorn Leghorn icon and all. I also remember when he got banned although I forget which member he went after.

<< <i>I vote Greg Marguli, after he was banned he came back with an alt and posted a manifesto that made the Unabomber blush! >>

Greg is still around and posts only occasionally ATS. I saw him at the Long Beach show a couple of weeks ago....does huge sales on eBay as well.

Until Shylock mentioned his name I couldn't remember it but my vote goes to the cobbler....

I remember a forumite (do not remember her handle) who appeared out of the blue one day and was fired up about getting into the coin collecting hobby with all the time, energy, money and effort she could muster. She revealed in her posting that she was a "lady of the night" and that coin collecting was her newest endeavor.

She posted and replied to threads at a high rate for a very short time and then disappeared, never to be heard from again.

XpipedreamR, hadn't thought of him for quite awhile. I wonder what he's up to.

Hahahaa. Some good ones brought up. The hendrix dood and his toof money he desperately needed yet was actively bidding on car parts on Ebay.

There have been a couple of infamous ones offhand for other reasons. BigD5 and Cammy come to mind. Such a shame. I'm sure there are more for similar but offhand i can't recall them

    Manofcoins certainly stirred the pot.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Yup. He was the one who was ATing silver coins that were already in PCGS slabs using some vacuum chamber process while taking advantage of the fact that slabs aren't air tight. He denied it vigorously until he was caught by one of the forum detectives using old auction pics showing that his coins were white at the time they were slabbed.

Haven't read all the suggestions, but wouldn't Anaconda belong on the list of "top forum entertainers from years gone by?" Bear would belong there as well.

I'm sorry but I thought this was the "infamous" thread., not the "famous" thread.
