Does this 1965 Topps Mantle have a shot at a PSA 7?

In my opinion, this card is at least a solid EXMT to EXMT+. Does anybody think that it has a shot at a PSA 7?

I have had numerous cards with razor sharp corners and strong centering and just a touch of print snow get PSA 7's.

It just depends on how much the corners are touched. NM cards don't have to have razor sharp corners. At least, that is my experience.

<< <i>I certainly realize they don't have to have razor sharp corners. I just was not aware that a card with all four corners touched could grade that high. Perhaps they can and I just didn't realize it. >>
I actually am not sure either. The grading standards say that "There may be slight fraying on SOME corners" (emphasis added). I guess you could assume that SOME could mean 3 corners, but all 4 corners because it would say all. (?)

Hey, haven't I seen you somewhere before?

<< <i>What does the EX-MT description say? >>
It says "corners" (with no number).
PSA EX-MT 6 card may have visible surface wear or a printing defect which does not detract from its overall appeal. A very light scratch may be detected only upon close inspection. Corners may have slightly graduated fraying. Picture focus may be slightly out-of-register. Card may show some loss of original gloss, may have minor wax stain on reverse, may exhibit very slight notching on edges and may also show some off-whiteness on borders. Centering must be 80/20 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the reverse.

<< <i>If it was centered nuts 50-50 all around I could see maybe this getting a 7 after a few trys. But with that much wear and the top bottom centering combined Id say 6 at best as well. >>
Is that also a surface scratch up and to the right from mantle's head?
A PSA NM 7 is a card with just a slight surface wear visible upon close inspection. There may be slight fraying on some corners. Picture focus may be slightly out-of-register. A minor printing blemish is acceptable. Slight wax staining is acceptable on the back of the card only. Most of the original gloss is retained. Centering must be approximately 70/30 to 75/25 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the back.
Just from the definition it has a shot as long as the grader interprets some corners and all four corners as the same.
Edited to add: If the scratch mentioned is on the card it probably wont get a 7.

It is not a surface scratch. I looped it and it looks to be a print line.

I would say 5.5 if they actually used the .5.
If not could be a 5 or a 6 depending on grader.
Good Luck! Let us know how it turns out.
