Return Of Superman counterfeit Card???

Anyone modern non sport collectors out there familiar with the 1993 Skybox Return Of Superman Box Set? I recently picked up the Title Card (The Never Ending Battle Rages on) that is available in the box set. I got it from an ebayer seller who sells a lot of non sports singles and inserts. When I got the card today, right away, I noticed it was on thinner card stock and the image quality and looked like a scanned reproduction. Anyone familiar with this card and whether this sounds normal?

I do not have that particular card, but I do recall buying a sealed box and building my own set 20 years ago. I still have my set, and the extras. But, I have to wonder why would anyone counterfeit such a modern era card? I'm not saying you are wrong, but just a question...

Rampage, since you still have your set, can you tell us the approximate details of the cards? If they are all coming from the same sealed boxes then I would imagine the thicknesses and image quality would be similar. Perhaps some photos?

edited to add: I know it's easy for me to sit here and suggest that you invest more of your time on this dilemma. But I think it would help a lot and I'm very vigilant about reporting eBay buyers who sell counterfeit anything. And photos could help as evidence of some sort if eBay doesn't want to act.

That is not always true. This card was not issued in sealed packs. It was issued as a bonus card in the factory sets. Another thing to note, some insert cards in some sets are of varying thickness. Here is an example for you: Tales from the Crypt. The tek insert cards are much thicker than the holograms and base set. There are plenty of other examples out there.

My suggestion is not to report an item as being fake, unless you are 100 percent certain. Otherwise, you cause undue stress for the seller of that item. Do not be too quick to judge.

As I mentioned, I do not have this particular card, so there is nothing for me to take a picture of. However, if the buyer feels he is not getting a genuine item, then I am certain he can return it if he so chooses.

I see! Thank you for that education. I thought the card had been included in a sealed factory pack, cut from the same paper stock.

Take a look at the description near the end.........."YOU WILL RECEIVE ONE SIMILAR" This to me means he is sending a similar card to the one in the title. Similar meaning counterfeit, unauthorized reprint, etc...................

Really? That is the lingo used to tell someone they are selling you a reprinted fake card? Show me proof of this and I will bow down.

No proof at all. Just reading between the lines and my interpretation. (Did I spell that correctly?)
I have seen similar auctions whereas in very small print it says you will receive a photo copy of the card pictured.

I'm really worry with some people calling everything fake without knowing or ignoring info about the item. I don't have the card because I bought the sealed box not the factory kit set that includes the binder, promo, etc. Maybe in some future.

As said before by other member. The card wasn't available in the sealed packs. Check the link. You will see the card use as top card for the factory set.

Now to the original poster of the topic. In eBay, I saw the factory kit set from $20 - $30. So I will not be worry about a fake issue. I will be worry that maybe I spent a lot of money for just the top card of the factory card set.

Agreed. This happens allot of the US Coin Forum, too, though the majority of the time the said coin usually is counterfeit. But, for the trading cards, some people just don't have a clue. And, in my opinion, should stop collecting and educate themselves first before casting shadows.

For coins, I can understand issue. A lot of forgery counterfeit and fakes are running in that market.
